Source?

I wouldn't trade from our pedestrian defensive depth, but we have cap space to play around with this season and Yak's only under contract for one season. I'd take the flyer if he's really that cheap. Chances are Yakupov is better than anyone we get with the 2nd. If he sucks just let him walk. If he's questionable sign him and expose him. Something tells me he's not actually that cheap though.

I dunno Edmonton ruined the kid. ala Schultz. He was had for pretty cheap. Imagine him in a Pens system where he's actually allowed to play offense. Maybe alongside Geno.

That's really shaky logic. So Jersey offered Gellinas for Yakupov, the trade didn't go through, Gellinas eventually went for a third, ergo Yakupov is worth a third? I don't come to that conclusion. I come to the conclusion that the asking price was higher than a third and there were no takers at the deadline. Now that its the offseason and GM's can strategize better without in-season pressure, the landscape may have changed.

Yep... Bennett gets to be a minor cap dump to take on Yak. However that link said a 2nd OR a 3rd.

If for some odd ass reason Edmonton sees even the most MINOR value in Beau, they'd take a 3rd instead of the last pick in the 2nd.

Ian Cole is awful. Getting rid of him would be addition by subtraction, and would free up space to sign Schultz if we could get him cheap.
