Well JR announced a few days ago he was going to qualify Bennett, so shoot him, not me.

Stupid move by the old man. We can use that money for better, more productive purposes instead of a fragile player that is on the shelf for 90% of the year.

Didn't you say you qualified him?

I was actually surprised they didn't do it when they had the chance. I don't think they will be able to do it without the penalties now.
- Tojo.

Well hossa is pretty good still with a beliw value cap hit

Every lockout they have had has come with buyout periods where you can get out of any contract with no cap restriction or penalties ...I expect to see the same next lockout

When calculating our cap? Yes because JR said he was going to qualify him. I can't just will JR into not qualifying. I'm working off info I've got.

It's heartwarming to know that we just automatically assume lockout whenever the CBA is up

There are two needs ... defensive depth and a top six winger. With Schultz probably not being back, Lovejoy possibly moving on (I know he wants to stay in Pittsburgh) and DP being still a suspect, we need defense first IMO.

Doesn't change the thought process. Fleury needs to get dealt regardless.

Agree with your last sentence. I just think if your clearing cap space you better use it. If we sign Schultz and or Lovejoy, and a remotely worthwhile backup goalie... we run out of saved cap space pretty fast. In which case its unfair to say the return on Fleury is a 2nd rounder AND a top 6 winger. (because we still cant afford one)

Clearing space allows you to sign one or the other, probably moreso Lovejoy from a more financial move and a Carter Hutton type. What is problematic is qualifying Beau for 1 million. You could get a decent player for that money left over from Keeping one of Lovejoy and Schultz and a backup. Instead, a guy that is out for 90% of the season will command 1 million which leaves you short of getting that decent player. Don't qualify him, you can get one.

I noticed your edit. I forgot the old man was planning to qualify Beau (I'm throwing up as I say this). That seriously hinders out chance at getting someone decent. Hopefully Beau goes on LTIR out of the gate and we can use that money for someone more substantial.

Another joke. I guess perseverance means being 50,000 years old and still playing hockey. Dude is in better shape than a lot of 22 year olds. He hasn't persevered at all.

Nothing will ever beat Dubynik sucking for his entire career on bad teams and then being pretty good on an ok team for half a season

Yep. So they get to fill out a pretty solid team at the expansion draft and potentially draft a face of the franchise super star a week later. Ottawa is crying Jordaning right now.

Did they say is making 10.5 million and completed his worst statistical year of his career? I'm assuming Mr. Overrated won it from Chicago.
