Deal Murray. CGY has wanted him for at least 6-8mos, apparently has offered their #6+ for him already. Get that up as high as you can and swing the deal at the draft. Then, turn around and deal #6+ to CBJ for #3 and laugh away... - mventres
Yeah trade a can't miss goalie for a 50/50 prospect who is years away from helping and keep the old goalie who is and is not a complete head case when the games matter and is already feeling dejected. The only place you'll be laughing is the insane asylum when Puljujarvi busts and Murray has a HOF career. |

Huh. Didn't think about this... That means Dales is also under contract who I think may also have a NMC. This will be address at some point I'd have to imagine. Would be pretty lame if teams had to autoprotect pending UFAs. No guarantee they'll be back and Vegas won't take them anyways. - Victoro311
Duper wont qualify for auto protect because of the injured player missing 60 games rule. But Kuni and Daley might be auto protected if they treat pending ufas the same as players already signed for the next season. Its something the NHL needs to clear up. I guess I'll be optimistic and believe they would waive it knowing they wont be re-signed to help the team cuz they are just great guys like that. But thats a lot of hoping. |

If Fleury is dealt, I'm not sure I want Zatkoff as the primary backup in this instance. Zatkoff was perfect backup for Fleury because he was cheap and we really didn't need to rely on him to play many games. MAF is a workhorse. If Murray is the top guy, we need someone capable of playing 30-35 games in the event Murray struggles a bit. Carter Hutton would be the perfect fit as Murray's backup. More expensive than Zatkoff, but has the ability to play that many games if needed. - Oneonta Penguin
I like this idea, I can't believe it came from you, but that is a name that would be perfect. |

The dull life of compile times and dataloading leaves me with far more free time during the work day than most.
And yes, I really could use a better hobby, but they frowned upon whittling in the office. |

Oh no, I picked up two freelance jobs 3 weeks ago... which I believe a kid out of high school could have done.
Granted, half of this blog thinks I am still at google from over a year ago XD |

Yinz gonna think I'm crazy, but this is why I'd love a MAF for Elliot + 1st Round Pick and call it a day.
Pens get Elliot as the back-up for one year, Jarry gets to remain in WBS for another season, Pens cut a chunk of salary off the books and move on. |

I'd take that trade definitely, but I don't see why St. Louis would with Allen in the wings. Then again, they did trade for Miller when they already had Halak, so... |

Not as much as I do and I haven't ripped into you at all. I'm a nice guy. |

Sprong would be exposed if he was called up to us, or played in the AHL. His injury will help us from not having to protect him provided he plays in the Q and is shut down after the season. - Oneonta Penguin
That would still only make him a 2nd year pro, so think he is protected. |

I have been banging the Carter Hutton name for a month on this board. Ironic ... both Murray and Hutton hail from the same hometown. He would be a quality backup. I do have some good ideas. Thanks for the compliment.

I was under the impression that second year pros have to be protected or exposed. Sprong has one year of pro because of his short stint here at the start (didn't like that) and the play-offs in the aHL. I was under the impression another year like that, he had to be protected or exposed. If that is the case, we lucked out due to his injury because he won't have to be protected. I'm confused on this.

There is no other two way center in the league right now that is better than Jonathan Towes. He brings so much more to the game than Crosby or Mulkin does!! - clander
Yeah that's why Toews is always the captain of team Canada and Crosby is just an alternate. Because Toews is such a better leader. And notice how I'm spelling Toews? If you're gonna talk $hit for him learn to spell his name. |

Well, it definitely says 1st and 2nd year pros are exempt on the rules they released today. But there is a lot of confusing parts. Now that the rules are official, I hope someone explains all the finer details. But since he really can't make the team now, if Sprong would have to be protected he just shouldn't play in the AHL this year. |

Im assuming pending UFAs won't be protected. Why would a team protect a player who they plan not to resign? On the other hand, I could see a lot of teams signing their free agents after June 20th. |

Good point. Crosby could have taken a bundle more, but put the organization first. Love him or hate him, Tom Brady has done the same with the Patriots. Toews and Kane were thinking of themselves first and it cost them Saad, Terravainen and maybe Crawford. - Oneonta Penguin
Pretty sure Kane and toews took almost 2.5 million per year less than Crosby did in order to win 3 cup thus putting the team first when they could have got more ...now they are being rewarded for being such good team guys |
