he was talking himself up / talking Puljujarvi down as well when asked who's the better player. same when being asked about matthews (vs himself)
he comes across as arrogant.
but who knows, difficult to tell from interviews how a player is.. he might be the perfect team-mate and professional.

- MaximusAurelius

And Matthews consistently says things like he makes the players around him better, which is a pretty bold statement in itself. When do you draw the line between confidence and arrogance, because Matthews has said some things that come off pretty confident. Not to mention there might be a language issue when interpreting what he truly means when he's giving an interview; he might not know how to nuance his statements in such a way that they don't come off cocky, but still come off as confident.

After 6 months of the world pumping their tires, that kind of praise makes it into their everyday lexicon i'm sure.

Tbay
Toronto
Detroit
Buffalo

All are possible, but I just have this feeling that if Stamkos is leaving Tbay - he's going to come to Toronto, simply because he wants to play here in Toronto, in the big show under the spotlight.

Agree, and signing an Elite Goalie, which Detroit and Buffalo simply do not have probably helps.

Mrazek is as good as Andersen (both non-elite; but Mrazek has more potential to become elite than Andersen).

Lou is unparralled when it comes to picking goalie talent.

There was Brodeur...and Schneider...and...Clemmenson? Eh, Kinkaid? Er...ummm...uhhh...balls

Mrazek had a nice season - his first full season. Seems like a good goalie - Wings will have to pay, although with Howard at 5.3 million - and super difficult to move, not sure where that money will come from. Andersen has three full seasons and is about to receive the Jennings Trophy - Not Elite?

I like the move for the Leafs.

But...the Jennings trophy is more a team thing than anything else.

I'm just saying.

I like Anderson. I think he's a good, solid goalie that will give you steady goaltending for a long time.

I don't think he's a top 5 goalie in the league or anything, though.

Brodeur averaged about 60 games a season for 21 full seasons. Lou did not have to waste money on high end backups. The point of your list is?

My favourite summer headline from a couple of years ago was "Wendell Clarkson." But, I think this year is the best overall for the blue kool aid. It seems everyone is going all in and more and more people are talking Stanley Cup. Once again we will be hearing Elvis singing to Leaf nation about a Blue Christmas.

Thanks for you unbiased opinion. I am not sure but the Jennings trophy went to the goalies who allowed the fewest goals in the league who played a minimum of 25 games, right? Andersen (note the spelling Bimbo, sorry Bingo). Previous two winners were Carey Price, Corey Crawford and Jonathan Quick. Hard evidence does not seem to support your feeble opinion

Right, Carey Price won the previous year because Montreal is such an excellent defensive team.
