I can't find the original link which said it was 16% last season but basically whatever the cap is each player has to pay into the "escrow" account or in other words when they get their paychecks they have deducted 16% until the end of the season when they reconcile the "hockey related revenue"

They did announce the cap to be $73.6 million which included the 5% escalator or else the cap was going to be the same.

This article maybe?

I think escrow ends up being 18-20%

Side note is the 500 million expansion fee considered hockey related revenue?

Edit. Just read it was raised to 18% last February and players were told not to expect much back.

Not sure either but I think there is a significant gap between 3 and 5.

I also think Hartnell is still a pretty decent player.

It was a decent line up

It should be considered revenue.

It should be but Bettman had it excluded a couple of CBa's ago and the players haven't been able to get it into the revenue calculation.

If that's the case, escrow should be eliminated and the cap should go up. I have a feeling it will be exempt and go straight to owners though.

Try again the escrow will be at least 18%. Every year the escrow has gone up which is one of the reasons why it took so long to figure out the cap because the NHLPA had to agree to the cap which then determines the escrow.
- allsports

My bad this is what I read earlier woops

So NHLPA and NHL had full 5 percent growth factor put into new cap number. Had they gone just 2.5 % would have been flat cap.

Goligoski's new 5 year deal has a cap hit of 5.475 million per season.

I don't mind it at all.. It's Arizona they're not a cap team.. At least they're spending some money to help their team.

I would feel best/most confident with getting PJ (most unlikely).
I would then be happy with Tkatchuk.
Dubois has high risk/reward in my opinon (although it might just be my unease with players from the Q).

In the end, i'm predicting that JB picks a Dman, thereby outraging half the board who wanted a forward (or as they see the BPA), and a further quarter of the board who wanted a different Dman, until most everyone chills out and realises we still got a good pick and are referred to as homers...

- dbot

Agree with your order of players to pick. If JB takes a d man with five overall, it'll be a madhouse in here...

Personally, I'd rather he trade Tanev and something to get the pick he needs to take his d man of the future... Then sign a guy like Jamie Benn or sometime else to replace Tanev.

In a fantasy draft i made trades to make this out team.

Sedin(7)-Sedin(7)-Okposo(5.5) = 19.5
Baerschi(1.85)-Stepan(6.5)-Sutter(4.375) = 12.725
Etem(950k)-Bo(894k)-Zibanejad(2.625) = 4.469
Burrows(4.5)-Granlund(900k)-Dorsett(2.65) = 8.05
Gaunce(863k)

Sbisa(3.6)-Tanev(4.45) = 8.05
Hutton(896k)-Gudbranson(3.5) = 4.396
Tryamkin(925k)-Larsen(2) = 2.925

Pedan(850k) Biega(750k)

Miller(6)
Markstrom(1.55)

Defense is no better than last year( i don't see it worse) btu our forward group, esp top 9 is much much better. Also had added Chabot to our prospect pool, only pick i gave up was this years 3rd(was used with Hansen and Higgins(dump) to get Stepan)
Edler + Rodin for Zibanejad +Chabot, gave RFA rightys to Vey and 154 for Okposo rights(was argued may be higher cap hit that 5.5)

- Retinalz

Wow, hitting the strong stuff tonight. ThankThank God it's Tuesdays. Do to bed, you're drunk

I kid, decent lineup, not a chance it happens and that d core is hideous...

I'd be up for signing hammer again if we could find someone dumb enough to take Edler from us. I think Gudbranson, Tanev, Hutton and Hamhuis would be a solid top 4. Vey being gone would be a bonus as well. Clipboard Willie seems to give him the benefit of the doubt every time. I think if Miller doesn't bounce back, goaltending will be a weak point again. But I like that your lineup is at least an attempt to get better.

I don't think Vey is going anywhere, they just don't want to give him a raise.

Maybe Van could get away with trading Edler+Hansen to boston for 14+29th.
Draft a forward at 5, draft Bean at 14 (hes the dman i favor in this draft)
Trade up from 29 to 20 and draft Fabbro, or even stay at 29 and draft Lukas Johansen
Resign Hamhuis at a reduced rate cheaper then edler.
Sign Eriksson and Brouwer.
