Makes no sense for the flames and Pitt would probably want more cuz Malkin
- Redmile247

The worst part in the a flames situation is how desperate they have become. It's not a position of power and if they don't pay some kind of premium they will go into the year without a goalie signed. Sure one of the young goalies could step up but you need to come to the realization that they need one that badly and everyone knows it.

Ive felt the same about the uncertainty. And half of a season isnt enough to base the future of the franchise on.
I too believe tkachuk will be an elite nhl player and like the certainty better.
But at the end of the day I do trust JBs drafting

After all the coverage I'm getting antsy to just get it all over with....

Yes they have to chose which goalie to trade for or just sign a Reimer ...so desperate

Seriously how many buyers and how many sellers ...flames are not in a desperate situation

I would feel best/most confident with getting PJ (most unlikely).
I would then be happy with Tkatchuk.
Dubois has high risk/reward in my opinon (although it might just be my unease with players from the Q).

In the end, i'm predicting that JB picks a Dman, thereby outraging half the board who wanted a forward (or as they see the BPA), and a further quarter of the board who wanted a different Dman, until most everyone chills out and realises we still got a good pick and are referred to as homers...

It's a pretty weak FA for goalies... Good luck with Reimer.

I totally agree with that. The more I think about it, the more I want an elite puck moving D-man on this team... The kind that cannot be traded for. I'd be happy with us drafting either of the overseas D-men.

I'd say more like 30%, there's more level headed people here than you think, the crazies are just louder.

We'll be getting a good player that we can begin border line stalking.

Yeah if the prospects read this board they'd demand a trade.

Can't be much worse than Edler, at least we wouldnt be paying 4.5+ for -36 seasons if he can match Edler's best performance.Cowan isn't afraid to make eye contact with opponents in front of his net. Something almost every Canuck fan in any part of the province with backbone(not Vancouver) likes to see. Something this team desperately was lacking last year on the back end. I mean maybe you love Biega, and Weber as the 7th D. But on the 2nd worst team in the west I really don't see it as a gamble. We have nothing to lose. If it wasn't for mcdavids injury, we would have finished dead last in the west and gave Toronto a good run for their money.

Rewriting history...

Cowan sucked then now & in the future.

If we have to its not the worst thing in the world ...it's an upgrade from last year and doesn't cost any assets

When your rebuilding trading a high first and 22 year old 30 goal scorer makes little sense ...yes Malkin is by far the best piece but the deal doesn't make them a contender so why do it
- Redmile247

The Flames need a No1 goalie badly and will probably have to overpay for it…such is life dude. The Flames need a true #1 more than they need Malkin. Spinning through backup goalie after backup goalie after backup goalie post-Kiprusoff makes little sense as well.

However, the trolling will be relentless.
I'll be listening to The Grateful Dead and enjoying jazz cigarettes while watching the draft on mute.

As long as Benning picks appropriate to position in draft order, I'll be happy. Nothing could disappoint me more than the lottery did already.

No, half will want Benning killed slowly, while the other half will praise his shrewd management. There will be no middle ground.

This may be true, but Pitts are not in a position of strength either. If they don't trade MAF before the expansion draft starts, i doubt LV passes on Murray.

Yup, there wasn't much at tdl. With all 7 Canadian teams in rebuild mode there will be pressure on them to do something. Gudbranson was a good start for us but last year showed exactly what our team is. This is Gillis' model of never developing coming to fruition.
