Is he? They made the Eastern conference finals and took the Penguins to seven games without him. Losing him for nothing is terrible, but so would be blowing up the rest of the team to keep him.

yeah they definitely played great without him BUT he's Stammer - he's a huge part of any franchise and one of the best snipers in the world - he's had some bad luck too with the Tibia break and blood Clot - next year will be REALLY interesting to see if he has a full healthy year, what kinda numbers he puts up and who he's actually playing for!!

It will be interesting for sure, and he'll probably bounce back, but there are enough question marks to make it tough to hand out the kind of contract he'll be looking for.

He also needs to start shooting from somewhere other than the left face off dot. When he was playing TBs PP was almost as predictable as the Canuck's.

I want any of those players but taking a dman at 5 is dumb. You could flip with the flames one spot and get your guy there. Flames wont be taking a dman and have stated they want a forward. You might be ble to get one of there 2nds for dropping back a spot.

Exactly. There are many holes to fill I dont care which way he goes I just think taking a dman at 5 when you can drop back a spot knowing the flames wont take a dman is poor management. If dubois goes at 4 maybe yotes pay up for tkachuk due to the phoenix factor(doubtful as they need dmen) Flames are loaded on dmen and will be taking a forward either way.

The fact that there is so much uncertainty surrounding Dubois' Position makes me a bit nervous also.

My hope is we get Tkachuk as he seems like a sure fire first or second line NHL winger and can hopefully be a set up man for Boeser on a future first line.

It does though. If flames want one of PLD or Tkachuk and you want the dman then trade back a spot and get a 2nd and get the guy you want. Why not pick up an asset and still get who you want??

So if Edmonton took a defenseman like Juolevi at 4 they are stupid? I am sure there is an Oilers fan commenting that they could easily trade back one spot and grab Vancouver's second next year as there is no way Benning takes a Dman. I don't understand why everyone is so caught up on consensus lists, there are always a few surprises at the top of the draft. I'd be surprised if the first Dman isn't selected before 7th overall.
