Interesting times. I wonder who the Flames will go after...
- PensFan1962

Chances are good that they pick Alex nylander at 6.

We're in a really good position next to the cap.

Would have been if we picked Forseberg like we were supposed to
- Victoro311

Of course, that's the point...it's a lottery ticket.

A really good lottery ticket. Guys that went 5th-11th that year: Morgan Reilly, Hampus Lindholm, Matt Dumba, DP, Trouba, Slater Koekoek, and Fillip Forsberg

The year before: Ryan Strome, Mike Zibanejad, Schiefele, Couturier, Dougie Hamilton, Jonas Brodin.

Those are some really good names. Some made an impact in the NHL almost immediately. Stop trying to devalue a top 10 pick in order to try to make out Fleury's value to be higher than it is.

If you read the hawks blog they think they are getting Malkin for Anisimov, Krueger, and a first lol
- kfinl170

That is a total $hit package we would lose big time on that crap deal. Anisimov is barely on Bonino's level and Krueger is just Sundvist 2 years from now. No freaking way.

Yes... I still don't like moving Murray for Brodie (ignoring the unrealisticness of it)... because then we sell Daley or more for basically nothing due to the obvious cap situation... but I think you HAVE to move Daley then if we obtain Brodie for Murray (or hell, somehow for Flower+)

I want those top two pairs together for all 4 years. I don't want a year with Daley up there, then Brodie gets to move up... no, that is a wasted year of synergy.

edit: I mispoke on if somehow JR gets Brodie for a Fleury package... Daley gets 3rd pair minutes then. My bad.

- Guile

I'm related to Brodie and I don't want to trade Murray for him. Trading Murray is one of those huge mistakes that make you the punchline of the league for 2 decades. MAF is going and it won't be for a roster player that is significant. It's all about getting the right prospect, likely and prospect.

So... we can go back to two-three days ago when it was Poirier vs Shink as the prospect debate?

I like the Hickey idea better

What's happened? Mother passed? Very sad time if that has happened.
- Aussiepenguin

That's why Crosby handed the cup to Daley first so his mother could see him holding it while she was on her death bed.

You guys think that Ottawa can be in the mix to get Fleury... French GM, French Coach, French player prospect coming...probably gonna draft Julien Gauthier or other French guy at the draft... i dont think Anderson or Hammond can be better of what they give last few years... If ottawa want to get a real chance to do something they need a guy like Fleury as #1 goaltender... my opinion !
- Zo0by

Yeah we will require Curtis Lazar and Thomas Chabot to take Andrerson and the Sens get MAF and Ian Cole.

I'm kicking the tires on a new Ferrari Enzo, too. Doesn't mean I have the capability or means to buy one.

Sounds like Edmonton is looking to deal Taylor Hall, we should get in on that action.

Maatta + for Taylor Hall.

We don't have the defensive depth for that to be worth it for us. Also no need to take on another 6 mil top 6 contract.

Why exactly would the Flames want him anyway? Defence is not an organizational need. You can't just offer spare parts and expect a return.
- dr_soiledpants

Pouliot is not spare parts and I and team management would never include him as a throw in in any trade because that will come back to bite us like a pittviper. Last year a lot of these same posters were throwing Dumoulin in every trade and wanted to sign Alex Semin and a bunch of dumb $hit like that.

We absolutely have the defensive depth,

Letang Dumoulin
Schultz Cole
Daley Pouliot

You just dont like awesome players.

I think Chychrun is going to be the steal of the draft. 6 years from now no one will believe he was taken 8 or lower. He has all the tools and then some to be the next Chris Pronger

I don't see it working. We'd want Hammond and a second, or somewhere around there. If they send us Anderson, they're gonna have to really sweeten the pot. It'd have to be a bigger trade.

Something like Fleury for Anderson and Puempel or Perron. Gonna have to give to get if they want to dump Anderson on us.

- Victoro311

i was not thinking about a ottawa goalie involve in that trade... Pitsburgh got zatkoff that can be a reallly good mentor for Murray... i dont see them giving Perron away at all...that guy is THE steal of 2014 draft (7th rounder)

Haha this team needs more scrubs. Uher going to Europe broke my heart. Wanted him taking up air in the big club next year

Jokes aside, you're not being serious with that defensive depth chart, right?

We don't need forwards right now and we can't afford to lose our third best dman until we trade for or sign someone else.

I get what you're saying, but in a trade to Calgary he doesn't bring value unless Pittsburgh takes back one or more of our dmen not named Gio, TJ, or Dougie.

On Chychrun, i haven't seen enough to base my own opinion, but he's sure fallen in the ranks. Not sure what the issue is, but it does reek of potentially being the steal of the draft. He was ranked as high as 3 was he not?

Yeah, those teams will overpay to get to the cap floor, I could see the Panthers trading a pick for Kuni, and I would be ok with it to be honest. I know its Sids security blanket, but at some point he has to let him go. Send MAF to the Flames and clear about 9 mil in cap space. Resign Schultz and Lovejoy, browse the forward market for some cheap depth and call it an off season.
