Go listen to the Sean Malone interview on WGR.

Vesey sent him a snap chat when the Sabres traded for his rights.

You don't do that if you're not excited.

You know me I get worried all the time...

I am not worried at all about getting him signed they have a bromance

Nash costs you a first round pick plus
Perry cost you 8 plus Reinhart +
Hoffman is not available.

So you saved cap space but made the team weaker, so good job I guess?
12 - 7.2 is 5
12 - 8.7 is 3

So at most you are saving is 5MM and making the team weaker in the process.

PS Last year
Perry - .76PPG
Stamkos - .83PPG
Nash - .6 PPG

- ImThatGuy

No way those players will cost you that much. Everyone is trying to move salary. As several commentators have said recently, teams are trying to move salary and there are a lot of players available right now. I bet Nash could be had for our second and a prospect.

As if I am not glutton for more punishment today....

Seeing as Ennis (health) and Moulson (suckiness) have no trade value, unless we can move Gus for Fowler I would actually like to see the three of them play for a while on the third line. I still think Gus is the ideal 3rd line center on a good team and I still think Ennis can be a stud.

The wise one, Nazem Kadri, called him out for this. We should probably trade him. He will be expensive in a few years, and it may hamper our plans.

For him to come in and put up 40 points.

He is a player where his best days are behind him. Maybe and it's a strong maybe if you move Moulson I could get on board.

Perry will cost you #8, a player you don't want to move, another player you don't wanna move, and other parts. 8.7 for the next 5 yrs and is 31

Hoffman is off the table IMO now and he's not half the player Stamkos is.

One of the coping mechanisms that people seem to be leaning towards in anticipation of Stamkos not signing here is to point out how far the Lightning got in the playoffs without him. People also forgot that of the four Conference Finalists, the Lightning had the easiest road by a mile and then some to get there. First, they had to play a Detroit team that barely made the playoffs, and then they had to play the Islanders in the 2nd round, as opposed to Pittsburgh who drew the league leading Capitals. Even if you factor in the Rangers, who weren't the most dominant of opponents, I doubt Tampa gets through there without Stamkos. That doesn't even begin to answer the question of whether or not the Lightning would have got such an easy draw without Stamkos in the lineup for most of the season. The answer is probably no. He is absolutely that much of a difference maker.

And would those plans to be to wallow in mediocrity for another 40+ years?

IN a vacuum with one team trading for them sure. But you are competing with at least 10 teams to trade for any of those guys, thus bumping the price up more and more.

Perry also has a NMC as far as I know (too lazy to actually look it up) so there's no guarantee that even if you threw everything and the kitchen sink at Anaheim for him that he'd agree to it.

Who has the cap space to get those guys? Most teams are either pretty tight or not ready to bring on vets.

I think at this point they'd both welcome a change of scenery. And TM has a relationship with Perry.

3/4 of the league has 10+MM in cap space. So 22 teams.

Why is Anaheim trading Perry again? They have $15MM+ in cap space.

I'm curious to what you think it would take to trade for Perry.
