When you have a chance to bring in a 26 yr old that , is almost a ppg player, has a 60, 50, 2 40 goal seasons, and it costs you no assets (or minimal ones in the price of draft picks)......... you do it no questions asked.

If it ends his career he retires and they are off the hook for the remaining contract.

I didint know those guys were available in the trade market, we should go get them. Of course it is going to cost you #8 overall and Reinhart just for one of them.

This is a good post. This is why it's great that he's a FA. If we were trading for him and giving up assets it'd be an issue. As it is it means little to nothing.

As many have pointed out there are scores of players available right now. Once again, I'd take Stammer at 9. I'd take Nash (and not have to give up much to get him) for two years. I'll save 5ish mill a year in the short term and still have lots of money to spend in the future.

Is he is good as Stamkos? Of course not. But I get a damn good player and I still have all of my options in front of me. I also don't have to pretend that he can play defense at center (sorry, it matters) and I'll get other good players.

I'd move Girgensons and Foligno and keep Ennis just to see if he can stay healthy. Before he got hurt he had the same numbers as his career average before the team started gelling. If he can get chemistry and stay on the ice (I hope) he can be a good complementary player.

All i have to say is that Stamkos sucks.. he had 0 points in the playoffs this year and ended with a -1 rating.. that is not elite

Toews has been a ppg player in the playoffs once in 8 years............

Kane has been a ppg player in the playoffs four times in 8 years. (but does own a playoff career .9837 ppg though)
