Okposo and Fowler wouldn't be horrible.

Not poking fun....

But that is such a typical response from a Buffalo fan.

8 and Girgensons enough to get Brodin and 15?

Then flip 15 Pysyk and Foligno for Eberle! Haha

Sign Stamkos sign Vesey

ROR Stamkos Eberle
Vesey Eichel Reinhart
Kane Larsson Ennis
Delo Schaller Gionta
Moulson

Risto Brodin
Bogo McCabe
Nelson Gorges

You protect Risto Brodin McCabe and Bogo on the blue line and Eberle ROR Stamkos and Kane up front. You'll lose Ennis most likely unless you move him during the year for a pick and a prospect if say Fasching or Bailey are ready.

Like it a lot if Brodin is a top pairing guy, not sure??

why would anyone do that?

Someone who has no rationality. Ya know, like someone who thinks Stamkos is going to implode as an elite scorer in 1-2 years at the ripe old age of 28.

Come....on......

He's 26. Not 30. Elite goal scorers do not fall off a cliff until about 35 years old.

He's got blood-clot issues, and is missing a rib. Can I at least get a full human being for 12 mill a year ,lol.

Stamkos has 79 goals over the past 2 seasons.

Just to put that into perspective, Evander Kane has 66 over the past 4 years (One lockout year)

He's been playing top minutes in Minny with Suter as far as I know. Though I also feel like there was some sort of tension between him and Suter last year.

Spurgeon has been with Suter for the past year or so I think. I believe Brodin got demoted to the 3rd pair.

Thanks.

Didn't get to catch as many games and all that this winter. Life got in the way of my hockey watching.

What was Suter's beef this year then? I remember him getting upset about who he was paired with, but I can't remember the exact scenario and all that.

I get the hurt 12 mil could do, but we have an advantage with Eichel and Reinhart on ELC's.

It's not like Eichel will get 10 mil a year by then. He will most likely get 6.5-8

So thinking about a "blockbuster" trade I want Murray to do, normally there are prospects that change hands.

Just looking at our prospect list, are we ok with giving away Baptiste, Guhle, Martin, Carrier, Bailey, Fashing?

I say no, to pretty much most of them, but we have to be ok with some, right?

I think Bailey is going to light the third line on fire half way through this year and Baptiste has really good number in Rochester for a 20 year old. I would rather a blockbuster only be roster players on our end, cause I do like the prospects we have left.

I think it was over Brodin not developing. I guess Brodin has really nosedived since his rookie year.

That and Spurgeon has emerged as a really good player

Ongoing contract talks with Cody Ceci in Ottawa, although somewhat under the radar. Doesn't appear to be close at the moment. Good player.

Ok, lets play the "we signed Stamkos to this gross contract" game. How many guys are you shifting out of their natural positions in order to "fit" Stamkos? How happy are they really going to be? When Eichel comes up for contract, how much does he get since he has more or less been promised the team, and Stamkos is getting 12 mill.
The way the team is built now, Stamkos just doesn't fit. We don't need another Center, and we don't need another Right Winger. We need a Left Winger (Vesey), and a scoring LHD. Adding a right handed Center that puts us in Cap hell isn't very smart.

I think at this point they have to be very careful about how many of the higher end prospects we have that they "give away" as part of trade packages. The cupboards aren't completely bare, but they're not fully stocked either. We have the advantage of having a very young core, but you have to continually have quality guys coming through your system.

Chicago is a perfect example of why and how to do it basically. They've been able to keep their key top guys together despite the very large contracts they have because they've been able to move guys that need larger contracts by having guys in the pipe that are ready to step in and can fill their shoes. And even their system has had some warts.

You also forget that ROR can play LW in addition to RW.

I'm not disagreeing that paying Stamkos 12 million could be a huge hurdle later on. My issue with your original post was that you think he's going to basically fall off a cliff skill wise at the age of 28.

It was because Suter (LHD) had been exceling playing with RHD for a change and Yeo put him with Brodin(LHD). Suter said he likes playing with a D man of the opposite hand

The way I look at it is if guys really want to win, they won't complain that the GM went out and brought in one of the top guys in the league for them to play with. The ultimate goal for all of these guys is to win a Cup. I would have to think they'd all believe the chances of that happening would be higher with a guy like Stamkos on their team, even if it means playing on the wing instead of at center or whatever.

Pay Stamkos...win cups.

I'll keep posting this until people on this board stop taking crazy pills

A 21 year old Wayne (frank)ing Gretzky could come on the market and some of the low-speeds on here would female dog about having to pay him too much.

That's not a guarantee. But I get what you're saying and pretty much said the same thing in my previous post. The chance of getting to the SCF and winning it exponentially increases with a guy like that on your roster.
