Can Bernier go to the AHL?

If we demote him and he gets picked up off waivers the cap hit is gone, if not the cap hit is with the Marlies...no???

I wonder if Lou made this deal because hunter has his eyes on Tyler Parsons who is a considered going in the 3rd round.
Signed Andersen to a 5 yr deal to be number one goalie and let parsons developed over the course of the next three yrs and have him challenge for the number 1 spot in yr 4-5.

Seems like a great deal to me.

There has to be another move before the draft if we want to free the cap space to sign Stamkos....probably Bozak, and maybe Bernier if they can move him.

I still think Bernier is a good goaltender....just played on a terrible team. His overall statistics over his stint with Toronto really were not all that bad. Hopefully Andersen can elevate this team to the next level...should be a different team with Matthews and Stamkos aboard.

On an aside... what do good goaltenders do? Keep the team in the game? Steal a couple of wins? Did Bernier do that? Or did he lead the league in cheap little softies before the last note of the national anthem was played? And as an added measure, did he play a little better when the Leafs were more than 15 points out of contention for a playoff spot?

yes. doubt anyone claims him.

Maybe we can trade bernier with 50% cap retention. Would save $1M over dumping him in the ahl.

Lots of people thought the same things about Bernier, Toskala, and Raycroft to a lesser extent. Im not going to be sold until we see a season with him in net, seems like playing in TO isnt the most comfortable place for goalies. Of the "available" names out there Andersen is prbably the most attractive, I have the highest of hopes though.

Babcock runs a much better defensive scheme than the other coaches, with even average goaltending last year we would have been respectable.

The Leafs now have a shot at the playoffs next year I think.
