Anyone else think that this Andersen trade is just as much as getting rid of players from the old regime as it is upgrading? Obviously spells the end for Bernier. Makes me think that JVR is going to be dealt too.

Andersen is an upgrade on every goalie the Leafs have had since Belfour in 2003-04. And he is young and has the opportunity to be better still. Why on Earth anyone is comparing him to Reimer/Bernier/Toskala/Raycroft is beyond belief. Lou went out got and signed the best young goalie available. Note the deal was contingent on the Leafs being able to sign Andersen at their number.

No that's not correct. Stamkos is going to free agency. Tampa cannot go above $8.5 million a year that was offered. It's not that they won't, they can't. There will be at least two teams that Stamkos will be willing to sign with that will offer $10 million a year for 7 years. Sure he likes Tampa - but its over there.
