Theres not even a duo on that list that could patch together what we got in Arn Andy. Salary or skill wise.
The picks werent even ours! (or so im told havent fact checked) - Bigzby
I'm down with the trade.
I'm just conscious of the fact that Andersen's save% to date is pretty average ..and about the same as Reimer and Bernier over the past 3-4 years.
I'm hoping for the best but I was kind of advocating trading some lower picks for a guy like Pickard or Subban who wouldn't have required a big fat contract right away.
Again though, it's been handed to Freddy and I hope he steals the show.
I have no issue with the picks involved given they're low value picks but at the same time very aware that I've seen this movie many, many times over the last 8 years and it never worked out.
Andersen's stats are underwhelming and there is no evidence to support the fact that he can start 60+ games. Time will tell I suppose.
Raycroft was in the Italian league within four years of the Leafs buying him out in 2008. Toskala struggled through two dozen games in Finland before burning his equipment in a drunken fit and never playing hockey again.

another goalie who let one in from the next town over was Dan Cloutier, who is now the goaltending coach of the canucks

I hear ya.
For the rebuild, it feels like the demolition is not quite complete, the foundation isn’t quite poured and we’re starting to build the first floor with the Andersen trade.
Obviously rebuilding a hockey team isn’t necessarily a linear process, but definitely a wait and see move for me.

It's time to build - Lou said that himself. They've stregthened behind the bench, down the middle, on the wings and in net. Defense is the next target and then look to free agency to add the right pieces.

i'm questioning whether a younger goalie like subban would have been better to build with.
