This is why you always make your own judgment and not listen to somebody else's pinpoint view. The old grain of salt approach! - Lucas.Neilson
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We will see how he does...The Leafs obviously see something ..because 5x5 is a big commitment |

So I was looking at the cap numbers and Leafs have 65 million including Horton and Robidas by my calculations. What's the rule on IR during the offseason? If, say, the Leafs sign Stamkos to a 9.5 million dollar contract, does Horton immediately go back on IR and his cap hit can be replaced, or does his cap hit count until the start of the regular season no matter what? |

It's pretty funny, I've seen Andersen play a lot of games - the guy is huge, and has a ton of battle in him. It's simply a scenario where Anaheim has 2 great goalies and Andersen was going to cost them 5 million or so and they already have Gibson signed at a very reasonable contract. They need the money for some forward talent, it's a great trade for the Leafs and a good one for Anaheim stocking up a couple picks for something they really didn't need with only so much cap space available.
Great move by Lou. - Lucas.Neilson
Good post Lucas!!!!
Let's go back to Anaheim for their Top 6 forward need on LW and target Lindholm!!!
JVR ++ to get it done..... do it Lou!!!!!!!!!!!

a 6'4 #1 26 year old goalie who just happen to hit RFA when the team has 2 #1's and expansion is coming next year.
the stars simply aligned for the Leafs. |

I believe the cap hit counts until the season starts and you can put the player on LTIR - but you can also be over the cap by 10%, but I'm not sure when you have to come into compliance |

When I see Andersen, I see Reimer v2.0. (a bit better and more consistent than Reimer)
Nothing wrong with that; I liked Reimer.
Andersen is in the area of 12-25 NHL goalies.
He's not top10 / elite though.
BUT he seems like a stable and good guy with consistency.
Leafs should get rid of Bernier (Calgary / Arizona / Nashville) and sign Reimer to a 2mln/2y contract end of September. (I doubt Reimer will get the a 4mln+ multi-annual contract he's looking for) - MaximusAurelius
Ray Ferraro, is that you????

I wouldn't either. The convo starts with Lindholm. If not, all good. We have JVR on a great contract with two years left... no rush to move him. |

Rob Vollman @robvollmanNHL
That's a lot of $ for Andersen. Over 3 yrs, ranks:
13th by Quality Start Pct%
23rd by SV%
25th by Adj SV%
26th by home plate SV%
26th by xGS
Rob Vollman @robvollmanNHL
Andersen's value inflated by goal support of 3.11 (3rd in NHL), and facing especially soft opponents.
Rob Vollman @robvollmanNHL
I used to study the avg shooting pct% of teams goalies assigned to face. Only one goalie was facing noticeably easier opponents: Andersen.
oh
Vollman = aaszhole, Andersen save percentage in 2016 playoffs = .947 five games against Nashville. (Nashville not a soft opponent)
Note to all the idiots saying that Andersen was a backup - he started final game

? I missed this - maybe bc I'm not living in Canada/US (I do know who Ray Ferraro is in case you would wonder..).

Can you see the videos on tsn.ca? He basically said he is a slight improvement over Reimer. I do like Reimer as the kid had lots of fight in him, but Andersen is positionally better and arguably more athletic, and he also has size. I think Ferraro is WAY off the mark. He is only going by numbers.... |

stop trying to trade JVR!!
the leafs have 2... count them... 2 legit top 6 forwards who aren't rookies
the leafs have zero depth in proven top 6 forward talent. LouLams wont trade those assets since the leafs are pathetically thin up front. |

So this pretty much takes us out of the Stamkos sweeps does it not? Not enough cap space left. Especially when the D needs some work and Lupul bozak Horton all likely to be on the books by ufa day. |
