I remember one time a debate about Kadri's chemistry with Frattin, a dispute about how much they actually played together on the Marlies, how much chemistry they actually had. Went on for pages and pages. It was like watching a glacier for a thousand years.

Leafs sign Stamkos and then can put Horton on LTIR. Then they will try to make a number of trades including Bozak, Holland, Lupul (highly unlikely someone will take a chance on him) and some of their fringe prospects like Leivo, Corrado, Percy for picks or possibly package some of these guys with picks/prospects for solid established players.
They may be forced to go with most of the group they have now for part of the season until teams feel like they are out of playoff contention and decide to start planning for the future.
After Stamkos (and possibly Vesey), I don't see the Leafs making any significant moves this season. I think they muddle through the year and then next year when they can shed a nice chunk of cap space they pull off a few major deals.

Anderson is a solid pickup. He won't be flashy nor anywhere near the top of the vote for the Vezina, but he will be consistent which will go a long way in stabilizing the mentality of the players in front of him.

I don't, I like him and his deal is good. And if even after his disciplinary issues with the league and the team, after a year of Babcock management decided to commit to him, I trust that. The team obviously still has needs but they are developing some depth of skill on forward now, but not so much that they can start moving it to plug other holes. It's robbing Peter to pay Paul. They still have lots of picks and can start looking at UFAs in the next couple of years too.

Besides I've seen enough of them trading guys they drafted blowing up in their face. I like that they are growing their own for a change.

His numbers would be diminished and the asset becomes diminished. If Stamkos is signed, then the cap gets tight. That Kadri money is better spent on a good defenseman.

Stamkos wants to be the number 1 centre. What happens when Matthews blossoms? Where does he play then? That's the point that I've been pounding on, for the last 6 months. There will be conflict, in a couple of years. Hopefully, Shanahan talks to Stamkos, and explains this, going forward. Maybe Stamkos figures it out and plays the wing, in two years, with Marner on his other wing.
