Glad they acquired him...but a steep price for a goaltender.

For a young starter with playoff experience and quality stats?

Vesey's rights to Sabres...

Leafs take Filip Gustavsson with 31st pick and have 2 clones in goal for the next 10 years..lol

Liking this and really dont think its that much of an overpayment. If we can move Bernier for a replacement pick its even better.

You're not getting anything for Bernier. He'll play out his year and be gone.

I got a semi when I read the deal. I was really hoping that was the target. Young, big, deeper resume then Bernier (when we got him)

Scratch one off the list boys. Brighter times ahead

Goalies are like Running Backs they're a dime a dozen, if it's not a top 5 in the league they're all the same and can be found anywhere.

Everyone's so excited for this trade, but I'm just not feeling it. Just my opinion.

Has Bernier the second written all over it, comes from one of the best teams in the league with the best possession numbers to us... The Leafs... So who knows if this guys a legitimate starter.

Only time will tell and I'd love to eat my words.

All the best FA - you were a stud for Ducks and will be missed - I'll be rooting for you .. except twice a yr - Leafs are getting a excellent player - great in the room - no drama and the best goalie they've had since the cat -

Not really, fair deal IMO. Andersen would of easily fetched at the least two 2nds and basically that's what this is.

This makes the Lehner "overpayment" not look like such an overpayment.

Bernier's 5'11, Anderson 6'4. Far from the same bud.

Toskala, Bernier and now Anderson. Three west coast goalies, one from the Sharks, a no go, one from the Kings, a no go and now one from the Ducks, this better work out with all the picks already wasted with the previous two.

Agreed this is risky as (frank).

And to MCharisma91 posting Bob's quote:
Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 10m10 minutes ago
For those saying TOR price on Andersen was extremely high, no one would have batted an eye if Leafs used 30th pick to take 18 yr old G...
Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 9m9 minutes ago
So the question becomes, would you pay an extra 2nd-rd pick to get a 27-yr-old with 125 NHL reg season games instead of the 18 yr old?

If there's a great player at 30 better than the goalie, then that is who they should take & THAT is the opportunity cost, not the 18 year old goalie because there's no guarantee the Leafs would prioritize positional needs over best player available.

Also:
Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun 7m7 minutes ago
Told Leafs have agreed to a five year extension with Andersen as well. He would have been RFA July 1

Let's hope he's not over(frank)ingpaid

I'd still draft parsons or any of the top 4 prospects if they're still around with the 57th pick. Need a longer term option.

? Do Lehner and Anderson even compare stats wise?
Not saying I like Anderson, but I think you're making a huge leap with your statement.
