Andersen actually had more regular season games than Gibson.

Was also the main guy in the post season as well.

Gibson did have more starts. He also started in the playoffs coming off an injury.

Regardless, clear the Ducks wanted the younger guy moving forward as he's been taking ice time away.

I'm not saying it's a bad deal for the Leafs, just saying Andersen wasn't the clear cut starter.

"Tied up": you realize Bernier is under contract for another year and then he's UFA?

"Going into free agency": this implies that we were actually going to be a significant player in FA, outside of Stamkos, a player which the Leafs have had the better part of two years to realistically plan (or not plan) to acquire.
