no kidding
would have loved to grab this guy in Calgary

People keep talking as if he was a backup on a good team and the next Bernier....
this guy was their starter since 2014

- cpltanto

He split with Gibson this year.

I guess the Ducks want Gibson to carry the torch moving forward.

And everyone is saying that they are trying to shed salary to sign Stamkos. Not sure what they can dump.

If someone signs Kreider to an offer sheet, can they match?

He will get traded - someone will take a chance with a low end pick.

Remember Flyers signed this guy to a 9 yr $51 million contract - only takes one fish.

It would be nice to lose his cap hit.

Bernier, Bozak, Lupul, Michalek, Laich, Robidas is about $21 million we could lose by next year.

We have plenty of cap space for Stamkos.

Ok, that's what we've been saying we hoped would have happened, one of the Anaheim goalies. We're fine with this, but again...I'm scared of the Bernier Effect

With Boyle's 4.5m, and Yandle's 2+ gone, they should have enough cap space to sign one player.

I don't know how they could sign Stamkos, but they should be able to re-sign their RFAs.

He was also better than Gibson in the playoffs this year.

Andersen actually had more regular season games than Gibson.

Was also the main guy in the post season as well.

Totally fine with trading that 30th. But maybe a little showmanship Leafs and announce it on Friday night. Dummies.

Except that Bernier was a backup that never played a full season. Andersen has been Anaheim's #1 goalie for the past 2 years.

He's younger, and already signed to a cap friendly contract. Makes sense to trade Andersen.

Don't worry, Lou was at tough negotiator:

Lou: OK, before we give you $5 milly X 5 years, I just have to ask one question.

Andersen: go ahead

Lou: Are you willing to stop the first shot during games?

Andersen: Ummm, kinda weird question. The answer is yes.

Lou: It may seem like a weird question, but we've been burned by this before. Like, I mean 3rd degree burns. So I just need to know: will you try to stop all shots in the first 10 minutes?

Andersen: Just give me the damn contract. I'm not him.

You're acquiring a 100% NHL'er versus a 5-10% possibility of an NHL'er down the road. One that may not even be as good as Andersen.

Just so we're clear, a team that claims to be significantly invested in analytics now has $9.15 million in cap space tied up in two goalies, and has left themselves only $5.5ish million in cap space going into free agency?

Good luck.
