I don't think I've ever seen him play. Living in this god awful time zone it means staying up half the night. - shack67
Good goalie on a good team. Very similar to how Bernier was in LA actually... |

Yet all quiet on the Oil front. - Iggysbff
always figured that no team is goign to do the oilers any favours. If they want a Dman they are going to have to grossly over pay |

Fine. Fayne, the 4th and Reinhart for Barrie. |

The only thing I have seen is that it is unlikely that the Blues will be able to extend him. Not that they are close to an extension. |

Interesting, since it's impossible to have discussions about an extension with Shattenkirk, per the CBA, until July 1st. |

Adrian Dater just makes stuff up about the Blues, he has no connections and has never been right on Blues stuff.

Yeah, I saw those. Nothing about Shattenkirk being extended or close to being extended.
So most likely just read it wrong. No biggie. |

Dater makes things up about the Avs. He has no real insider team information, however does break a lot of NHL news.
If Dater is saying X Player is close to X team in talks....95% chance that isnt happening |

Basically Blues have options with him and if they decide to move him, probably a strong chance they will allow Shatty to speak to other teams to gauge interest in an extension so they can get max value out of him |

They can gauge his ask since hes their property. But no deal can be official until after that. |

You can't negotiate an extension prior to July 1. It's not that it just can't be signed. Could Blues have a hypothetical conversation with his agent, on what a player like him would be worth? Sure. But there is zero chance they would let other teams talk to him about an extension or say they have one in place; and risk that team letting it get around.
There is no benefit to Blues. Shattenkirk is one of very few top pairing RHD available right now. If teams don't want to pony up, better to keep him for another run at the Cup and then trade his rights next summer for a 3rd. |

Great move for both. Anahiem gets a first round pick and a player they don't have to protect during expansion (they couldn't have protected Anderson) for their backup. Toronto gets a solid goalie that is only Ana backup because Gibson is amazing. Toronto needed a goalie and addressed it before the draft getting what I think is one of the top tenders on the market. Oilers paid more than that for Talbot and he was less established than Anderson is. I think Toronto gets the better end but only because they had to find a starter. Anahiem will most likely get a solid prospect which is the best they could really hope for. They don't have that much cap space that they could have held out for a veteran forward.
I do think Anahiem might have got a better offer but this is a sure thing and is taken care of before the draft which helps them when talking trades for Lindoholm or Vatenen (if they trade either). - Hall Fan
I don't thinks so. 57th pick, a 3rd and a 7th for Talbot vs 30th and a 2nd for Anderson. |

You read his post?
Yea they paid more and then gave him a 5x5 extension.
They better pray he works out better than Bernier, Toskala, Scrivens, Fasthe and other that have looked great coming out of the Cali teams. |

I think that is a fair contract for Andersen, he has earned it imo. I will be fairly surprised if he flops in TO. Would be kinda funny tho. |

Wouldn't surprise me. Fasth, Hiller both flamed out. Both looked good in Anaheim. |

Good point, kinda forgot about that. I don't think Fasth was nearly as proven as Andersen and Hiller seems to have fallen off in general after turning 30. Hiller was already on the decline when he left Anaheim causing him to lose his job to Andersen and has declined further since. I don't think you can really say the same for Andersen. He has still performed well, Gibson is just too good of a cheap option and expansion is looming. |
