The plus to get us to 3 is going to cost us something that doesn't cost a lot right now, not a big salary but has a lot of value. Not sure what that is. That's out of my pay grade.

I don't think the difference between Puljujarvi and Tkachuk is great enough to pay it.

Tkachuk is a GREAT f'n player.

I like the guy who scored 30 gs and 107 pts in 57 games in the CHL and another 20 gs and 40 pts in 18 playoff games than I do the one scoring 13 gs and 28 pts in 50 games and 4 goals and 9 pts in 10 playoff games in Finland.

I'm sorry. I just do. Ever since Armia.. I am hesitant on wingers from that league now.

I am back and forth on Stamkos. He has been downhill slightly lately. He wasn't very present in their Stanley Cup appearance playoff run and they sitll made the ECF this year without him for the last half hte season and playoffs.

Do i think a new environment would do him wonders.... absolutely. Do I think we would be signing a 60 goal scorer though.. no. Not at all. Or even a 50 goal scorer.. nope. I think he will be a 30-45 goal scorer which is amazing but he is not a 60 goal scorer.

If we don't sign him... I am fine with that... as long as he doesn't go to Toronto honestly. Even if it is DET or MON or NYR. I don't care as much.

- JVince11

The days of a the 50-60 goal scorer are long gone IMO. Only Ovi hit 50 this year and he hit it on the nose.

5th most goals scored this season was Pavelski with 38...Yup sign me up

Remember no secondary assists in the Finnish league and playing against men...not 18 year olds.

I didn't know that..

But the leading scorer on Puljujarvi's team was a 2nd rounder Sebastian Aho who is an 18 year old for the Canes. He went 20g/25as.

Tkachuk is the most overrated player that is slated to go in the top ten in my opinion.

I, personally, think that he is.

I think that the top 4 picks are all NHL ready but I think the Fins will struggle in the early goings especially being on lesser teams.

I think Puljujarvi will be better off on CLB than Laine will be on WPG at the beginning though. Not as much pressure. Doesn't have to be top winger from the start. More vets to feed from.

How?

Just curious of what your point of view on him could be?

Is it the... "he played with Marner and Dvorak so his stats got inflated angle?"

It's not an angle, it's what happening, especially considering he has the most secondary assist oh any prospect. Tie that in with his last name, and you have the next power forward that will flame out in my opinion.

So would you rather stay at 8 and take who is left at D or Nylander than? Do you view Nylander as better than Tkachuk?

I'd rather trade the pick all together and not draft someone at 8.

USA Today mock draft is a slight deviation from most mock drafts...

TOR Matthews
WPG Laine
CLB Puljujarvi
EDM Tkachuk
VAN Dubois
CALBrown
ARI Juolevi
BUF - Keller
MON - Sergachev
COL - Nylander
NY - Chychrun

I do like nylander more than Tkachuk. I personally would want to take the best defensemen. My opinion, it's the Russian kid. I would stay away from both Nylander and Tkachuk though. One and two in secondary assist, and I have a feeling that Stat is going to be more closely monitored in upcoming years.

Calgary is the biggest wild card. What they do will determine who Buffalo picks IMO

I am curious of where you get the 2ndary assist stats?

Dvorak had 69 As
Marner had 77 As
Tkachuk had 77 As
Nylander (Swe) 47 As

I find it hard to believe that Nylander could have the 2nd most secondary As over there with only 47 total but them 3 have that massive of a number?

Thanks

I agree with you.

I think EDM, VAN, CAL, and ARZ could all pick either way. A Forward or a Defensemen. Whether it be a reach or not.

CAL has SO much money tied up in D right now with Dougie, Wideman, Brodie, and Gio. I mean they compose 22.5M of their cap ALONE! They have to go forward I would imagine to build around Gaudreau, Monahan, and Bennett. Frolik, Backlund, Stajan, and Bouma are not the future.

VAN has Edler, Tanev, Sbisa, and then Gudbranson. I think they go Forward no doubt.

EDM we all know they need less forwards and more dmen.

ARZ is pretty well stacked at F with Domi, Duclair, Dvorak, Strome, and Perlini. I think they need to go D BIG time.

1. Leafs: Matthews
2. Jets: Laine
3 Blue Jackets: Pujarvi
4. Oilers: Tkachuk
5. Canucks: Dubious
6. Flames: ?
7. Coyotes: Jouevi

There will probably be a trade but I think those other six picks are locks ahead of us.

Now do +/-.

(one is -47 while the other is +62)

No one in their right damn dman mind would debate taking Rielly over Lindholm.

Except for a lot of people including myself. Id take Lindholm over Rielly. Not just the fancy stats, he brings a lot of subtle things that often go un noticed. Id sell the farm and then some to get him on the sabres.

I am saying take him over Lindholm. I am saying he is a lot better than people give him credit for and Risto is not necessarily better than him right now.

Okay I would take Lindholm over Reilly no question but you're point of argument is flawed. One plays for the Leafs and one plays for the Ducks. +/- is the most useless stat ever, guy could of done his job and someone else was to blame yet he gets a "-" for being on the ice.
