I said it before with the Blackhawks paying Kane and Toews what they are is insane in the cap era, and they have three Cups
Paying Stamkos $10-12 million...well. Good luck with that - AllInForFlyers
Blackhawks won their 3 cups before those contracts took into effect |

would like to keep, flyers need a righty D and he is a good physical presence they can use
my guess is 3 years, between 8-9M is the deal they will settle on - Marc D
I wonder where Hexy and Flyers stand. It was reported other day negotiations were not going well, but with the rumored report of us turning down 2 2nds for him at TDL, all signs pointed we wanted to bring him back. If we are hesitating with an offer for him for cap purposes, I wonder what else Hexy has planned with our cap |

Right. Even though you could justify doing it because of what they did for you, it's still crazy to do it

Would you match an offer sheet giving him 3.5 for 3 years? - MaximumBone
what is the return for that offer, and 2nd round pick?
I guess they would match but not sure |

I think too with the cap staying stagnate these past years it has hurt everyone. Teams expected the cap to rise but with it not moving it hurts that like to spend. |

We'd get a 2nd back if we didn't match. Depending on the team that offersheets, id match. But say if it was EDM, Calgary, WPG, or ARZ I may take the early 2nd instead. But Gudas would be missed, by me at least. |

If the reports are accurate that Yzerman didn't want to go above $8.5, while I don't always agree with what he does, I can't argue that isn't the right call
Is Stamkos worth more? Sure. In a free market, absolutely. But in a cap world, the difference between 8.5 and 10-plus is at least another player, maybe even two on ELCs, and that absolutely matters |

With Lecavalier off books, #LAKings move up to $5.55M in estimated cap space (11F/7D/1G). #Flyers up to $12.75M (9F/5D/3G).

previous management would have traded for Ladd's rights at this point

The Lightening also have plenty of RFA and UFA to re-up this year and next.
Kucherov
Nesterov
Hedman
Drouin
Killorn
Johnson
Namestinkov
If they didn't have so many core guys all up at the same time I think he would be ok paying up to 10. But they have to spread money out. Also with Hedman being a monster he is going to command top dollar. |

more important to get Hedman signed and to keep Kucherov
Yzerman is doing the right thing
wonder what he will do with Matt Carle |

Any idiot who thought the cap would continue rising in a gate-driven league with the TV contracts already in place deserves to be fired
This number where they are is pretty much in line with projections I read a decade ago, coming out of the 05 lockout. 6-8 teams able to go 70-plus, 4-6 always close to the floor, everybody else operating with internal budgets |

They'd match then trade him to Vancouver for a 2nd just out of spite for Edmonton |

Probably, although the CND exchange rate drop didn't help. |
