Dreger says Buffalo might be all in on Stamkos and offering $12m per year.

Hexy beaten to the punch, again.

- Feanor

Do they have the room for this kind of purchase or do they have to trade everyone?

Compared to other clubs, I don't seen them playing tough and physical imposing hockey.

They need more skill but line 3 and 4 need more snarl. I like my teams a certain way

I like my teams a certain way, too.

Victorious. Don't give a (frank) if it's with speed or size, just win.

Oh. You don't know.

If you don't know, how can your original point be based on facts, rather than opinion?

- MikesPillBottle

What was my original point, and where did I state that it was fact and not opinion?

From what I see if they don't do any other trades, yes they have the room. They'll have half the buyout hit of Hodgson, Weber buyout would be off the books. That gives them about $13,200,000 space

But wouldn't have moneys to resign Girglegirglesons, Foligno, Rustoleum, McCabe

Seriously, there's no asterisk placed on the records, if your team doesn't average 6' 2" 215 lbs. Just win.

Regardless of the obscene potential offer, I don't think Stamkos is choosing Buffalo. If he plans on coming that close, he will take the extra 2 hour drive up the QEW.

Talking with other teams right now, would be tampering, as I don't think the open window to talk to other free agents has opened yet, but we all know agents use other teams to drive up the price with other teams, even though the player has no real intent to sign there.

Thought that as well. Buffalo see's the stars aligning to what appears to be their biggest future rival. May as well gum up the works a little bit.

What if your team was partially comprised of Matthew Barnaby, Tie Domi, Ulf Samuelsson, Marc Bureau, Darius Kasparitis, Billy Tibbets, Sean Avery, Claude Lemieux, Patrick Kaleta, Zac Rinaldo, and James Neal...but they somehow won the Cup?

There's so many rumors, it's hard to gauge. McKenzie thinks Detroit is going to move Datsyuk's deal and make a run at him. Toronto is interested, Buffalo is now said to be all in. Montreal is supposedly looking hard. The Rangers are apparently trying to deal Nash and/or Steppan to fit him. Tampa Bay obviously would like to keep him, but there's noise of issues between Stamkos and Yzerman/Cooper.

Stamkos is a great player. The second best goal scoring forward in the NHL. In terms of ability, he's a great addition to any team. The trouble is the cap. If he gets $12mm, that's 1/6th of a team's cap to one guy. That said, a max length deal would take Stamkos to the end of his likely prime, so the risk of fall off is minimal.

- All former and current 1st round picks are equal in value
- Signing Stamkos will automatically improve your team

I'm just happy I haven't heard any connections to the Flyers. With them having cap space to boot. Thank you Hexy!

If it throws a monkey wrench into Pittsburgh's plan for Fleury I'm all for it.
