Dreger says Buffalo might be all in on Stamkos and offering $12m per year.

They should use that cap space and sign Vesey, shore up their defense and get a true #1 goaltender.

But that's just my HO!!

Tim Murray has no time for your sense making. He needs to overpay for another top center and find the next Evander Kane.

I think it's interesting how we talk up our own players who clearly have flaws but talk down stars, even superstars who play elsewhere. Regardless of where Stamkos goes or what he makes, he will improve a team.

Pass. I'll stay at 18.
- MJL

If the opportunity to move up to the 10-12 range is there for a reasonable price(draft picks) to snag Brown or Jost I'd be interested. Otherwise, I'm comfortable with the solid prospect they're getting at 18. (Macleod, Bellows, Kunin, Gauthier, Jones). A few good prospects ranked around the 2nd round range the Flyers are in as well (Steel, Bitten, Mascherin, Pu).

Stamkos is a player that certainly improve a team. The degree that Stamkos will improve a team when he costs $10M-$12M which will necessitate trading other players for pennies on the dollar is another matter entirely.

Genius Buffalo, lock up 20 million in Centers before your best one is even through his ELC yet.

If there wasn't a salary cap, I might agree with that.

Zemgus Girgensons' ELC just ended, he needs to be resigned.

But he also could be a trade chip.

For instance maybe they go all in on Stamkos. They can use Girgensons at the draft to move from 8 up to possibly 4 or 5 and try to get a defender they want.

This is how I look at it.

Would you trade Laughton for Hartnell right now today? I wouldnt.

Would you trade this years 1st, next years 1st and Sanhiem for the 3rd? I wouldnt.

- jak521

The first trade doesn't happen in any scenario; We'd have no intention/interest in Hartsy outside of attaining the #3. The 2nd trade is steep, but all 3 of our assets, including Sanhiem are question marks despite his success as a prospect. You never know. Puljujarvl isn't a for sure successful guy either on the other side of the argument, but he has the potential to be a top line winger.

Sanheim will be better than Ray Bourque.

In other words...they are prepared to overpay for the biggest name, who we all know is going to Toronto anyway? Sounds kind of familiar

If you have it you don’t need it. If you need it, you don’t have it. If you have it, you need more of it. If you have more of it, you don’t need less of it. You need it to get it. And you certainly need it to get more of it. But if you don’t already have any of it to begin with, you can’t get any of it to get started, which means you really have no idea how to get it in the first place, do you? You can share it, sure. You can even stockpile it if you like. But you can’t fake it. Wanting it. Needing it. Wishing for it. The point is… if you’ve never had any of it… ever… people just seem to know.
