Bolded completely contradicts underlined.

I could have been more clear. What I meant was it was okay for the Leafs to take on the Horton contract. But, I doubt you could reverse the situation so that Columbus or probably 2/3 of the other teams could have had sufficient financial muscle to be able to make it work.

No, it is just the latest in a long line of carefully crafted bullpoop designed to infuriate the Leafs posters; You could not be more disrespectful if you tried. You're the same as the misogynistic guy cat-calling to every female on the street, and then claiming that it's all in good fun and no disrespect is meant - it doesn't matter how you intend your message, it's how it's received. And it's obvious that not a single person here wants to hear what you have to say.

So with all due respect:

(frank) off.

I think that is a good example. It is a lot easier for a team like the Leafs to take on an uninsured cash contract. Not many teams can do it. So, having an contract that cannot be insured because of a players prior injury history could be problematic for any team, even the Leafs.

I would be happy if they took Gustavsson with the 30th and Parsons with Washington's pick in the 2nd if he falls that far. Pretty thin with G prospects.....
- PhilMcCracken

Wouldn't that 30th pick be enough to acquire a young prospect goalie that's a little closer and a little easier to project like a Subban?

If so, that's the route I'd prefer.

Stamkos, Matthews, Kadri > Kadri, Matthews, Bozak

Next question.

Stamkos had a blood circulation issue and we don't know if it restricts insurance options on his contract. So, if he could not be insured but an uninsured contract was signed and the problem reoccured....what would be he limitations on trying to move the contract. How many teams could take on the liability. It is potentially the kind of problem that Boston had with the Savard contract in that it stopped them having full flexibility on their summer cap.

And not for the reason you think. If I were the Leafs, I wouldn't trade a first for him. He's not going to be anything special.

That being said, it could be enough to get one from another team.

Columbus is a very good example, they have more crap cap hit contracts than any other team. Like you, the Sens, they are (frank)ed. Perpaps the Leafs can help them out and acquire the #3 pick at the same time.

So we trade a 5th to Columbus for the #3 and Clarkson, then hide Clarkson on Robidas Island?

Yes. I think that is the point. Cap flexibility is a great management asset. You don't ever want to put yourself in the position of having a huge uninsured contract on your books as you get closer to the cap. LTIR counts against the cap during the summer. I assume uninsured contracts are the same.

Perhaps everyone is gripping their stick a touch too tight as we get close to draft day. It was not my intent to infuriate anyone. Several people commented and wondered and even projected what my opinion on a subject might be. I merely answered in good faith.
- spatso

Why would anyone "grip their sticks too tightly" I don't remember the last time I've been this excited when it comes to hockey

It's your thoughts that are muddled, not your writing.

MLSEL has the financial muscle. They wouldn't need to reverse an uninsured Stamkos contract.

Nod your head if you understand this simple point.

Goalie is the one position where I wouldn't kill myself if the Leafs got an older guy instead of sticking with the youth movement.

Leafs will draft Matthews and a few other good players, will probably trade up from 30/31 to mid / late 10s / early 20s.
Leafs will sign Stamkos.
Leafs will trade for a real starting goalie (probably Crawford).
Leafs will add at least 1 prospect goalie through draft or trade.
Leafs will add 1 top4 d-man through trade or UFA (probably Keith Yandle).

Quite easy - all very logical moves.

With these moves, Leafs will make the playoffs coming season which is absolutely necessary considering it's Leafs centennial year.

Remember way back when I was infuriated by the Kessel deal with Boston as being too much to pay (2 1sts and a second). Everyone said no problem. Some of us said but make sure the picks are lottery protected and people said not problem. I am saying now, you need to be able to get injury insurance on any Stamkos deal.

i think we have to be careful with Robidas Island, sooner or later some one is going to ask for the occupancy limit
