i just want the leafs to land someone who will stabilize the position... be a lot easier for the young defense if they have faith in their netminder

i still have a feeling the leafs might target andersen to play that position while they draft and develop their goalie of the future.

the leafs need a goalie who is younger but experienced right now... any goalie they take this year will be a few years away

- Dozzer

Yes! I am very on board with this. Andersen would be a great guy to play out the next few years while they develop the hopeful #1, and will be a useful player to have once that player is developed.

all of this..

and a goalie who doesn't cause Babcock to age prematurely - more than Gardiner.

Is it entirely unreasonable to think about bringing Reimer back? I thought he was pretty solid without a lot of team defence in front of hime.

Still at it, huh.

Yes I agree on Matthews, always have.

Generally, I am not a huge fan of giving scorers a big contract that extends too far on the down side of 30. But, Stamkos is the exception. He is a bit younger and although he is past peak performance (60 goals) he is still an elite player. But, would not do the deal if you cannot insure against injury.

- spatso

Don't forget, Leafs are not owned by a penny pinching, tax evading weasle like Babados first citizen Melnyk - so the insurance question will not be a huge factor.

Given your comments on the Tanner thread, it's about time that you stopped all the pretense of coming here for discussion and simply (frank) off.

Dozzer, any chance of an assist on that one???

Be careful. Very hard to move contract that cannot be insured.

Agree : Andersen should be first choice. There will be some competition for him though - Calgary for example, I'm sure Lou has a backup plan.

Whoa, you need to put the comment in context and read the Tanner thread. I was responding to the over the top triumphalism of the Phoenix blogger claiming (perhaps somewhat tongue in cheek) that this might be the best hockey moment ever. I just took the opportunity of pointing out we have heard that before. Don't understand why your all so sensitive. It is just my opinion. And, I try to remain respectful in my posts.

Well For the Leafs, Cap Space > Money - as evidenced by taking on Horton's contract, pay uninsured money - no cap hit.

For your Ottawa Senators, Top Free Agent Signing = Tom Pyatt, evidence that Ottawa is really going for it this year.

Why would MLSEL need to move it?

And times I think you are just trolling, but at other times I just think you were trapped under the ice for 37 minutes as a child.

No, it is just the latest in a long line of carefully crafted bullpoop designed to infuriate the Leafs posters; You could not be more disrespectful if you tried. You're the same as the misogynistic guy cat-calling to every female on the street, and then claiming that it's all in good fun and no disrespect is meant - it doesn't matter how you intend your message, it's how it's received. And it's obvious that not a single person here wants to hear what you have to say.

So with all due respect:

(frank) off.

I think that is a good example. It is a lot easier for a team like the Leafs to take on an uninsured cash contract. Not many teams can do it. So, having an contract that cannot be insured because of a players prior injury history could be problematic for any team, even the Leafs.

Perhaps everyone is gripping their stick a touch too tight as we get close to draft day. It was not my intent to infuriate anyone. Several people commented and wondered and even projected what my opinion on a subject might be. I merely answered in good faith.

Nobody asked for your opinion, you just thrust it out there.

So here's the deal: Stop posting here or I will pursue, with Bruce and Lou, and then EO if needed, to get you an extended vacation.
