Just seems weird you could get a guy to agree to a 5 year extension in 15 minutes. |

My wild guess is this deal was done a day or so ago, and league asked all teams with trades to hold off on announcing them, so as to not get overshadowed by NBA finals.
Just seems weird you could get a guy to agree to a 5 year extension in 15 minutes.

The thing is, this trade has absolutely nothing to do with drafting a goalie.
They are separate issues.
If we grab a goalie at the draft, he won't be in the league for another 4-5 years, and then take another 2 years to be a starter.

I'm guessing the trade was all based on if Toronto could get him signed. Probably got permission to talk numbers with him prior to the trade.
Pure speculation but it seems more likely than getting a contract done in 15 minutes lol |

I still like the trade. Andersen is a fine goalie. Maybe $1M overpaid, which isn't something that will really hurt you if he plays well.
