Andersen is an unproven starter just like those guys. That doesn't mean he can't be really damn good it's just he's still a question mark. NJ gambled on Schneider and he's been amazing but Toronto's history with this sort of thing is not that good. - daeth
Plus the whole Toronto's roster vs Anaheim's roster thing
But you know no biggie since Toronto is so (frank)ing good........... |

I get what you're saying...but Andersen has been good for 3 years.. it's like we just acquired him after a great rookie season... He's been good for 3 YEARS. |

Serious question:
Do you think the Leafs could give Bernier away right now?
He has one year left at $4.15 million.
If you sent an email to 29 GMs saying the Leafs would trade him for a 7th round pick or less, would you get any takers?
I honestly don't think so. |

30th's aren't locks re(frank)inglax
We have a tendy for a crapshoot and have 229 other picks - Bigzby
Agree about 30th picks - Look at what the Leafs have picked up from the last four picks with first rounders outside the top ten
Gauthier, Biggs, Percy, Tlusty - pure junk. |

2 things.
1. We need to trust that someone on the Leafs staff know wtf they're talking about when it comes to evaluating goaltenders
2. Andersen is an unproven bonafied top 15 starter in the league but he's played over half the games the last two seasons with reasonable numbers. Still an upgrade on Mandela |

Exactly. I'd rather have Andersson than draft an 18 year old Gustavsson and an extra 2nd next year. They can still take Gustavsson (or Hart or the other guy) at 31.
Lou didn't gamble on Toskala/Raycroft/Bernier. He gambled on Schneider, and that was with a 9th overall. |

Jesus (frank)ing christ..
we get a goalie and some of you (frank)ers still (frank)ing complain ..
would've you wanted MAF, or were you going to female dog about that too??
It's an improvement. The team as a whole, is still a work in progress .
FFS.
and, we didn't trade JVR.. - MCharisma91
Seriously.
Stfu people.......its like whining is second nature. We needed a goalie, we got one. The price wasn't that steep. Relax.
I don't think JVR was ever in the conversation unless there was a defenseman involved so that wasn't a worry. |

That kind of scratch could possibly put damper on the Stamkos situation |

Told Leafs have agreed to a five year extension with Andersen as well. He would have been RFA July 1

The thing is, this trade has absolutely nothing to do with drafting a goalie.
They are separate issues.
If we grab a goalie at the draft, he won't be in the league for another 4-5 years, and then take another 2 years to be a starter. |
