Vesey didn't do anything. The Sabres traded for the right to sign him before July 1st. If he really wants to be a B or a Leaf like everyone says, he just has to not sign. Or am I missing something?

If this had anything to do with what Vesey wants, it would be a clear case of tampering - right Poile?

I think they have his rights until Aug 15 since Vesey is not a UFA on July 1st

You are 100% correct. Only thing is - would the Sabres toss away a 3rd round pick to wine and dine Vesey, or is it likely that there is a deal in place? The second alternative seems more reasonable to me.

If the Sabres do get Stamkos I'll laugh. It's not impossible at all. It's close enough to Toronto and he wouldn't have to deal with the media. Both teams have similarish futures too.

Seems reasonable as evidence in the tampering hearing, yes.
