Murray saying that they will definitely trade one of their goalies. Time to get one for the Leafs. Could JVR land a defenseman and goalie or no? I worry about losing JVR. Not much on the wings after he goes. Unless we find a way to dump a bunch of salary and get Stammer and Okposo. - iTOLDu
I wouldn't be so quick to trade JVR, especially if Stamkos is Toronto bound.
We talk about dealing picks, some prospects and perhaps a centre such as Holland, Bozak or less likely Kadri. Why? Because we have them in abundance. Big scoring LWers, not so much. |

In all seriousness this might be the most racist hockey related article I've seen. Brashear and Laraque might both be black, but they are separate people. Or are all black hockey players responsible for the actions of others?

Brashear apologizes after appearing in alcohol ad
Tuesday, Oct 13, 2009
MONTREAL(AP) —NHL tough guy Georges Laraque(notes) of the Montreal Canadiens is apologizing after appearing in an advertisement that violates NHL rules regarding alcohol.
The ad for an alcoholic beverage shows Brashear playing street hockey with several scantily clad women, and it has drawn the ire of the NHL and some women’s groups.
League officials sent The Canadian Press a copy of Article 25.1 of its collective bargaining agreement with the players’ union that states no player can sponsor or endorse an alcoholic beverage. Asked whether Laraque might be punished, the league said there would be no further comment.
An apologetic Laraque said after practice on Tuesday that he should never have appeared in the ad, was sorry if he offended anyone, swore he donated the proceeds to an animal-rights group, and promised to work for a women’s cause in the future.

Andersen and Fowler for JVR? Sure. - TheMussel
I don't think that deal costs us JVR, unless it's Lindholm, not Fowler. |

Ducks want a left-handed LW though. Randy knows JVR well.
If they offered Andersen, Fowler, 54th overall for JVR and 31st overall is that a worthwhile trade?
Leafs still have 2 firsts and 2 seconds. Get a dman and a goalie, pretty well exactly what the doctor ordered.

No idea ....total guess ....but, I'll say yes, unless Yzerman changes his mind. Because I think the next 5-6 years look better (on paper) in Toronto than they do in Detroit. |

The weirdest part is I don't remember Tony McKegney playing for the Habs. |

As I stated above, I'd only consider it if it was Lindholm coming back, not Fowler. He's overrated and overpaid imo. Not to mention Lindholm being 2 years younger.
Even still, that creates a huge hole on our left side. There would have to be some kind plan to remedy that. |

how about JVR + for Andersen, Fowler +24th . Or JVR + for Andersen + Lindholm.
Then possibly flip 24+30+w/e for a top 10 pick? |

Fowler led the ducks in ice-time in both the playoffs and regular season; I can’t see them trading fowler for cheap.
I’d also prefer lindholm over fowler.

#TBLightning GM Yzerman says he is 'doing all he can' to re-sign Stamkos, but 'can't force him to sign with us if he doesn't want to.'
I think Stevie Y already knows his answer.. |

same.. but not to sound cliche..but maybe a change of scene is needed..
Not that it matters THAT much, but we'd have another LHD regardless of Lindholm/Fowler . |

I agree losing JVR would hurt. That said, I'm not fully convinced that it is a huge hole. Wingers can play on their off-wing. Some even prefer it. There are lots of wingers in the Leafs system.
Remember when Lupul was PPG and an All-Star? You think he was playing RW with Kadri when that happened?
Nope. LW on a line with one of the best pure snipers in the league. Worth seeing whats up with that
Maybe it's not fair value for Fowler. In that case, maybe it becomes a more minor deal for Andersen and forget moving JVR at all. Just exploring possibilities

I'd do that......value wise. But as I said, that leaves a huge hole on the left side. They'd have to have a contingency plan or consider moving someone like Nylander there.....Although I think he's more suited to play the right side. Komarov is an option along with Kadri if need be. |

I don't think JVR would be as hard to replace as you seem to. Fowler is better than you give him credit for and there is no way the Ducks trade Lindholm for anything short of a Nylander. A good goal tender is more valuable to this team than a good LW. |

That's a good number for an RFA. That puts him just under Crosby and other obviously better players. As a UFA he'll probably be taking a discount if he signs anywhere under $10M if I were to guess. I have a hard time imagining there not being at least one team out there that was willing to pay that much. |
