You know when you go down town with the lads and you all realize you’re hank marvin’ so you say “lads let’s go Maccers” but your mate Smithy a.k.a. The Bantersaurus Rex has some mula left on his nandos gift card and he’s like “mate let’s a have a cheeky nandos on me” and you go “Smithy my son you’re an absolute ledge” so you go have an extra cheeky nandos with a side order of Top Quality Banter
- AdamFrench

For anybody wondering:

Hank Marvin = starvin'
Maccers = McDonalds
Mula = money
ledge = legend
cheeky nandos = top (frank)ing notch!
Bantersaurus rex = Bantersaurus rex

I did not know that, I am impressed.

Just to make this easier around here, perhaps you could make that your location.

Although I'm guessing a few others will do the same - citing the original author, of course.

It is actually perfectly appropriate. Citybank was the prime believer in too big too fail. This is not unlike failing to get lottery protection as part of the Kessel trade. I don't think Shanahan does a contract without the insurance.
- spatso

There is no point in arguing about this especially if you think banks just failed because they thought they were too big to fail.

After working all franking weekend, wouldn't it be great if I could sneak out a little early today and maybe watch some footy on the telly?

Nope. My franking day is going to explode at about 3:30 pm today.

FML.

I'm at a wedding. Where one of our bridesmaids from out wedding is marrying an Englishman in sunny Jamaica.

Ceremony starts right at (frank)ing kick off!

(Though I should be able to sneak away after the ceremony and take in the second half while they're off having photos done...)

I understand. But, I think it is actually the insurance that made the Savard contract movable. My single concern is that a Horton is unmovable without the insurance unless you have a team like the Leafs ready to take on the deal. But how many teams can afford to do what the Leafs have done with Horton? Other teams might take a risk on a player that is struggling (Clarkson) but most teams cannot risk taking a top salary that is not insured... especially if the player has a history. What the Leafs could do for Columbus was important...need to remember that there are very few teams that can do this for the Leafs.

When the US banking system collapsed 8 years ago this summer one of the major casualties was the biggest of them all (City group) because they had failed to safeguard their risk of pool. The problem they had failed to anticipate was that nobody else would be in a position to be able to help them. An uninsured $9m cap hit would be near unmovable for 7 years in the vent of injury causing a decline in performance.

another excellent post.
Do you think the leafs will draft the better player Laine or draft the big center they've been needing for years?
Be as detailed as possible.

James Reimer is our next Daniel Winnick....except if he does well he will be here to stay....source: "me and my gut".

And, I for one think the KGilmore's rumor/predictions seem solid so I go with him and not the dude from that poop city across the border from Niagara Falls.

I'm in for a C-note!!!

Guys.

Do you think it's a risk Leafs will draft Matthews?
You know.. with Laine being right there challenging for the #1 ovr spot, and surely winning the Calder next season..?

150 years ago (OK, actually 1996) a buddy got married on the night that Canada played Sweden in the Hockey World Cup semi-finals.

They got married in a restaurant in downtown Toronto. It didn't have a TV.

A few of us snuck out to see a period or two (luckily, future Mrs. AW was out of country, so I was solo).

Effing game went to double OT.

Oh, and what a franking game it was.

We thought the groom might be pissed, but he totally understood. Just wanted updates.

And they divorced a couple of years ago, so I stand by my decision.

I wouldn't trade him unless a team overpays. Has to be Lindholm coming back in any deal.
- Santo_44

Lindholm would be great...so I dont expect it.

Interesting ..

Rielly - 236 NHL games 92 points
Lindholm - 236 NHL games 92 points

Leading the 2012 draft for D scoring

Honest question: why give up JVR for Lindholm (great player!) if you can sign Yandle in UFA (excellent match for Babcock's system and FREE)?

Ducks scouts did well. Nobody even had him in the top-10, almost all outside of the top-15 too.

I like Felix Potvin...but he really was just a mediocre goaltender that had a cool nickname...he really wasn't that good. I would hope one of these goaltenders could be a future Belfour, or Cujo.
