i think we have to be careful with Robidas Island, sooner or later some one is going to ask for the occupancy limit
- BorjeFan4Ever

true, plus with our luck D.C. would be declared good to go and be back flopping around on the ice again.

And not for the reason you think. If I were the Leafs, I wouldn't trade a first for him. He's not going to be anything special.

That being said, it could be enough to get one from another team.

- RickJames77

Oh really? I thought he was still hyped to be a good starter. If not him then somebody else.

Too bad ...I liked the sounds of Subban v. Subban.

Remember way back when I was infuriated by the Kessel deal with Boston as being too much to pay (2 1sts and a second). Everyone said no problem. Some of us said but make sure the picks are lottery protected and people said not problem. I am saying now, you need to be able to get injury insurance on any Stamkos deal.
- spatso

Yes, Spatso - it has been noted that you have (several times now) stated that you think the Stamkos contract needs to be insured.

What you have not done (and I've been pointing this out through several posts now) is presented any logical argument as to why this is the case. None whatsoever. In fact, your muddled "logic" has been shown to be flawed. Hopelessly flawed.

And to add to your misery, the doctors quoted in the media reports on this injury all seem to think that the type of clotting Stamkos was experienced would not be a recurring thing, so although I am neither a doctor or an actuary, it would suggest there is a greater chance than not that insurance won't be an issue.

And even if it is, there is actually a potential financial upside: not insuring a contract means not having to pay for insurance.

As for your non sequitur about paying too much for Kessel - wow, you really saw something there that nobody else saw. Philosophy question: what's the sound of two hands not clapping?

I'm surprised I didn't die after Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp on Saturday
- RickJames77

Mmmmm ....do tell.

Although I'd prefer the Lagunitas Beer Camp ...or the Alchemist Beer Camp. Props to you 'Mercan's for crushing it on the craft beer world.

Leafs will draft Matthews and a few other good players, will probably trade up from 30/31 to mid / late 10s / early 20s.
Leafs will sign Stamkos.
Leafs will trade for a real starting goalie (probably Crawford).
Leafs will add at least 1 prospect goalie through draft or trade.
Leafs will add 1 top4 d-man through trade or UFA (probably Keith Yandle).

Quite easy - all very logical moves.

With these moves, Leafs will make the playoffs coming season which is absolutely necessary considering it's Leafs centennial year.

- MaximusAurelius

Mr Max... this kind of open optimism is not permitted in a Leaf thread. EVER.

Goalie is the one position where I wouldn't kill myself if the Leafs got an older guy instead of sticking with the youth movement.

I don't disagree. Just don't spend/invest a lot.

There was about 140 breweries from around the country that bought about 3 different beers a piece that you got to try for 5 hours. So it wasn't just Sierra Nevada, they were just the people that organized the whole thing. Needless to say, I got poopfaced.

Now all they have to do is get rid of Glen Healy and all will be right with the world.

No Clarkson! - one pure poop contract, Tyutin (2 years of overpay left), Hartnell - overpay for 3 years - but serviceable experienced forward that could play, and throw them the Pittsburgh pick with some players not in our plan. They have to shed some salary- they have too many $5 and $6 million middle of the road players, Bobrovsky at $7.4 million for 3 more years. Remember apart from being in cap hell now - Seth Jones is RFA this year - he is a prime target for an offer sheet from the Oilers.

The Leafs are currently paying for Horton's uninsured contract. Millions of dollars for literally nothing. Columbus COULD have gotten insurance but the premiums were too high and so they took a risk.

The Leafs on the other hand, have no issue paying high premiums for insurance if they WANT to.

It's not a "Stamkos has to be 100% healthy to get insurance" type of deal. He'll be fine, the Leafs will pay for it if they want it and all is well. End of insurance discussion.

Not that I remember, but to be honest, for the last hour I was trying one, side stepping to the next tent, rinse and repeat.

It was about 80-85 in the direct sun for 5 hours, so come hour 4 people were dropping like flies, which meant ZERO lines.

Wooo! Draft soon! Let's see trades! (Not necessarily Toronto)

As usual, the whole explosion of trades that were supposed to happen, won't happen.

So just to be clear.... Robidas island is an island in the pacific ocean where you get paid millions of dollars in exchange for not coming back to work?

Where do I sign?

#Leafs will likely address their goaltending situation by A) selecting one or two in the draft, 2) acquiring an NHL goalie via trade

Michael Augello ‏@MikeInBuffalo 17m17 minutes ago
Many believe that the #Leafs will try to acquire a veteran G (Fleury, Andersen) but they may go younger (Pickard, Binnington, Wedgewood)

Michael Augello ‏@MikeInBuffalo 12m12 minutes ago
Keeping Bernier is an option, but the #Leafs will not get value for him as a pending UFA with the G market flooded before expansion.

Michael Augello ‏@MikeInBuffalo 2m2 minutes ago
Re: Speculation about JVR being dealt. If #Leafs contemplate this, it will be for a top pairing D candidate, not a 1st rounder
