Don't worry my friend. In 5-6 years we can get our asses handed to us by the Oilers.

Is that how you envision the Canucks future?

If Chiarelli gets it right, they're gonna be a helluva team in about four years

McDavid changed that, so did Draisaitl really, those guys are true building blocks. They're what, 19 & 20? It has nothing to do with what happened before those two kids and everything to do with what happens after!

Oilers have some great young players but until they actually finish ahead of the Canucks I don't believe it. I truly believe the Canucks will be able to rebuild on the fly as planned...and if not, I'll enjoy a few high draft picks

If the Sedins retire in two years, it's game over, straight to the bottom. Unless they draft a generational center in the next two years.

Yeah but I know Ron. He's not a homer or a troll. He keeps a pretty fair and objective stance.
- Jeropotato

Really? I hate looking at all those passive aggressive posts he makes like a gosh darn politician in here. Who do we hate anymore than politicians. They all remind me of that as* Trump talking out of both sides of his ass

It's not hockey talk it's a variation of being a bully troll.

Exactly.

Not to mention they have a few foundational pieces aside from them, and a pile of young prospects we know next to nothing about.

There isn't a piece in our organization that we wouldn't trade straight up for one of theirs.

I could see contending for the playoffs in 2-4 years but not contending for the cup. Anyone's guess what happens in 3-6 years time tho.

I think you'll be believing it pretty soon. McDavid really is something else, and LD is gonna be very good. They're just a couple of pieces away from not only being a playoff team but a contender.

You are a tad negative these days...the Canucks have the makings of a good young D core and solid goaltending. With Boeser and PLD/ Tkachuck on the horizon I don't think our future is as bleak as you envision

Oilers core

Hall going to Mtl for Subban

RNH and Eberle going to NYI for Hamonic or Wpg or Col or Coyotes or or or or or

Yak going anywhere to anyone foolish enough to take him

Yup I am hanging my hat on that team and hitching my star to that wagon

Time will tell. It would be nice if another Canadian team was decent other than Van (except TO of course). They still have a LOT of holes though

I bet Eriksson signs a four year contract and plays with you know who for a two year extension

So who could we trade for Subban?

We just traded one of our top prospects and added a draft pick for Gudbranson......I know who i'd rather have.

Like it or not, they're much better positioned for the future than we are.

McDavid will win the Art Ross within three years, if they surround him and Draisaitl with defense and goaltending they'll be a great team for years. Trades will make them better and UFA's will want to play there.

Bottom 6 is an easy fix. They really just need a couple of guys on D.

It is a definite that a team must have at least a couple of star forwards, if not superstar and at least one stud D-man to win a Cup. Just look at the Cup winners in the past 8 years or so. If the Oilers play their cards right over the next couple of years the sky is the limit for them. McDavid will be the best player in the league barring injury of course.

We'll see what happens but they'll be 38 when their contract expires, that's old and you're starting to see them get hurt more often now.
