They have a similarities with the Canucks in that they both need to make the right moves NOW to ensure they succeed in the future.

And that they both rely on previous GM's from Boston to right the ship.

I guess we will see who was the real brains of the operation was.

Let's hope both do well. It could be a good rivalry for years to come.

Our goalie and D is 10 times better . Our two way game is better . Also with all that tremendous fire power that the Oilers have scored 8 more goals than us . That also is not rocket science.
- VANTEL

Can't say they only scored 8 more goals then you guys then go and say your defence and goalie is 10 times better but Oilers only had 3 more goals against then Vancouver.. I dislike both teams but at this point I think Oilers are closer to a cup but that can change decently quick.

They allowed 3 more goals then us....

They have assets to trade for D.

We have Horvat, they have McDavid.

We have JV, they have Draisaitl.

We have Boeser, they have Hall.

- golfingsince

All that means is that they have been a bottom dwelling team for longer and had a few lucky years in the draft. The picks were basically no brainers.

When they were drafting these guys we were playing good hockey. It is definitely their turn to bring Canada back to the Finals. No team in Canada is closer to getting there then the Oilers.

I doubt any other team gets that many high draft picks in the years to come though. They defined the tank and the league prevented that because of them. Almost as bad as the Penguins tanking for Lemieux back in the day.

Check again I think I did just say exactly that.

I will say it again Our D and Goalie is 10 times better than theirs

Even with their 4 first OA they scored 8 more goals than us

I think you're missing the point, it's not about right now, it's about the future with a 19 year old generational center and a 20 year old center who are already proven NHL talents.

Who they picked before is irrelevant. When you build down the middle you're gonna have success IMO if you get a couple of beauties, which they now have. Plus they have Nurse and Klefbom.

Goalie and D 10 times better? Don't think so, Talbot has pretty good upside , maybe better than Markstrom. Canucks D is no doubt better now but for how long? The Oilers are only a couple of really good D-men away from competing, the Canucks have some decent prospects but nothing proven like the Oilers have.

In no way am I endorsing wanting to go through the BS their fans have. I'm just saying that they are much closer to competing for a cup than we are. You don't have to agree with me, but I think time will tell.

That team has so many assets, they can use a few fixing holes on the roster.

I think our D improved alot more with gudbranson added. Missing Edler hurt last year and I say we will be better defensively this year than Edmonton unless they find a slam dunk trade.

I feel their forwards need to improve defensively and then they would become a dangerous team.

I 100% agree but that vastly relies on current positional needs and how they are addressed by PC.

High hopes for him, I think he makes the team and contributes nicely on the third pairing.

Most managers take a year to observe, Linden did it before he cleaned house, Shanahan did it in Toronto, Trevling did it in Calgary.

I'll give him a full season and then assess what he brings but I just don't know enough about him yet to talk about his impact. He played 13 games. I like him but I'd like a bigger sample size. His shot is appealing and his size is definitely an asset too. I'm stoked for next season to see the growth in all the young guys.
