Wasn't Mikkal Boedker a potential target for left wing at the trade deadline? He's a UFA on 7/1 and I haven't read anything indicating Colorado is trying to lock him up? Guy is fast and might be a cheaper option than Ladd or others recently suggested?

Reports that Hamonic for Hall is close....
- EnzoD

Damn, an overpay by the Oil IMO. Hall should bust out and have another 80 point year with McDavid healthy all year......... Plus I'm a huuuuuge Anders Lee (knocks people down and scores) fan and want him as Tavares' winger.

Gotta get more out of NYI for Hall. Straight up for Nuge, maybe.

He should get 4 mil at least and still hasn't proven himself yet. At least how I see it.

I wouldn't be surprised if the top two lines next season are both changed.
A recipe to bow out of the playoffs early is to have only one scoring line. Kane will adjust as he always has....I would be more concerned with the 1st line.

This x 1000.

Why, why, Q, can't we try:

Panarin - Toews - Hossa
Shaw / Panik / Versteeg on the cheap - Anisimov - Kane

Kane was great in the beginning of 2015 when he was with Versteeg and Richards. He can carry anybody, while Toews is not the offensive dynamo. He needs a scorer on either wing, and it ain't Hossa any more.

I would have to agree on the overpay if it's only Hamonic going back to Oiler land. Can you imagine Hall+Tavares together?? I'm a big fan of Tavares and Hall can flat out fly+finish.

Maybe Hossa will remember how to lift the puck next season. 5-hole on every shot didn't work so well last year....I have faith that the Hockey Demi-God known as Marian Hossa will pot 20 goals again this year.

Well, I wouldn't want Boedker for $4M. But, will see what happens after 7/1?

Boedker at $4mil or Kruger at $3mil? I know what I would choose....

EDIT: I'm sorry to keep brining up Kruger's deal but I just think its going to cost the Hawks Shaw, and I think Shaw is less replaceable.

Doesn't Detroit still have to include Datsyuk's cap hit ($7.5), even tho he will be in the KHL next year?

I thought the was discussed somewhere several weeks ago.

If so: GF says that Detroit has $60 in cap hit (including Datsyuk) with 16 signed (not including Datsyuk.

Not sure they would have cap room for Stamkos without another move.

Everyone in the league knows the Oilers are desperate for defencemen and aren't going to do them any favours. They have no leverage. I wouldn't give up Hall unless I was getting a legit top pairing Dman back, but the Oilers have to perhaps "lose" a trade in order to make their team better.

Hey Wiz,

DraftSite.com has the Hawks taking Red Deer Dman Josh Mahura with the 2nd rounder from the Tuevo/Bickell trade. What is your take on this player and who do you think the Hawks should take/might be available at #50? Thanks!

EDIT: They also have the Hawks taking a BIG 6'4.25" (but skinny 167lbs??) defenseman James Greenway with the USNDT at pick 83. Your thoughts?

EDIT#2: Hawks have the 95th pick (4th in Round 4) from the Saad trade. Some nice early/mid round picks to develop players for a few years out! I'm pretty pumped for the draft in Chi-town next summer

While it doesn't help with the current cap situation - I'm more at ease with Kruger's three-year contract when I consider his one-year bridge contract (which was a team-friendly deal) as being a part of it. The AAV for Kruger over the four years is pretty reasonable.

Anyone here hear the musings about kulikov being available? Seems like if yandle signs he could be on the way out.

If we can send Crow out with minimal cap back (calgary, carolina, ottawa?, hell maybe even vancouver) I'd love for the hawks to look long and hard there. 4.33 mil and ufa after next season.

You make great points bear, somethings gotta give!! Panarin to Canucks for the 5th and take this beast. (read the scouting reports) http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=252480

Panarin is worth more. He's not even in his prime yet and is already an elite player in the NHL. On a slight side note he's spending part of his offseason taking Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

He just never makes his linemates much better and doest;t really get them the puck...

...when I read the posts I feel like I am in two worlds...the ONE that reads the CAP and says we can't keep all of what we have already....and another world of fans who think there is STILL CAP space to add...UFAs, and not the bargain rack ones that will come for under a million...

Ok Wiz - I understand we have no cap space - but a lot of buzz seems to indicate that the team will make some moves to create space - and then address some concerns. So, under that scenario - I was proposing some mid-level options. If folks think that Boedker will garner a $4M+ contract - then I'll move along for something cheaper.

Team Canada didn't think so highly of Taylor Hall when picking their World Cup team, even after he was part of World Championship teams that won 2 years in a row.

He probably would benefit from a change of scenery out of Edmonton, but I think he still leaves a lot of people thinking there is more to his game, especially as a #1 overall pick. Hamonic may be the best they can get for him right now.

That is a very good point. Though, maybe that was a bit of message sending from Hockey Canada as he is still young and will likely be in their plans for the Olympics in 2018 when a lot of the Canadian team pillars are well into their mid-30s? He had 65 points and only -4 on that awful team in Edmonton this year. Hamonic is solid, but he is at best a 2D and more like a 3/4 on a Cup-Contender. Hall is without a doubt a 1LW on nearly any NHL team....

Saw this kid in Dubuque in the Finals a few weeks ago. Legit size, nice speed, plus shot he gets off very quickly, finds seams nicely, hounds the puck a bit, played as their best player in a go go system, cycles nicely, well coached...........3rd line ceiling?

http://www.draftsite.com/...layer/wade-allison/25843/

The major scouting services have him all over the place: http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=199949

Should be a very interesting week/weekend in the hockey world. Big trades coming, maybe even involving StanBo? I think the Hawks should go defense unless a highly rated Forward falls in the draft. They have no depth in the system on D and The Big 3 are all getting older...

Probably some message sending involved but when you look at it on paper they still chose Duchene, Marchand and to a lesser extent Joe Thornton instead of Hall. He must be very disappointed.

And to date, Tyler Seguin has been the much better player from that draft year.

This is why he belongs here in Chicago. Forget trading him, his work ethic is epic, I wish a certain superstar LW would take his training more seriously instead getting into trouble every other year.
