Mid-Aug. So Buffalo must know they can sign Vesey. - blackhawk24 NOPE
they know they had four thrid round picks
and 12 picks in a seven round draft, so maybe the pick was burning a hole i their pockets... |

AAV for Andersen's five-year deal in TOR should be in the low to mid $5M range, that is $5.5M or a little less than that.
or.. 6m for a 2-time Stanley Cup winning goalie.... |

oh, and by the way the last pick in the first round of the draft and another second next year certainly is far less than Crawford would ever be worth.
Freddie Andersson well, yes. |

and anyone who thinks Anderson is close to a 6 million dollar Crawford is delusional and look what he just got paid...so as I said repeated even if they had a replacement starter they get them about 5.5 mil too.
so for a savngs $500,000 - 750,000 dollars, the fans on this board wanted to replace Crawford...sheesh!
Andersson got that and we know how great he is... |

Curious your thoughts on Allen? Big time AHL guy, the experts like him but for me there is just something missing in his game....... One will have to go before the expansion draft, no?
I'm an Elliot guy and to be honest watching him in these playoffs was asmuch fun I've had watching any hockey for a lot of years... He was reeeeeeally good and having watched every minute of the series v The Mighty Hawks I think his performance was UNDERrated. - Mr Ricochet
I like Allen. But for whatever reason he has never put it together when playoffs start. (at every level) So that worries me as it has now become a history rather than a blip. He might just not have it between the ears when the pressure hits.
I am not really an Elliott guy. He is great in spurts. He can look equally bad in spurts. Even with all of his success here, I wouldn't be upset to see him go this off-season. I don't think his value will ever be as high as it is now. And I don't see him as the long term starter for the Blues.
We actually have several good goaltending prospects that are getting close. I personally would like to see the Blues trade both Elliott and Allen, and bring in someone that could be a longer term solution than Elliott. I would love for the Blues to bring back Bishop for example, and have Nilsson or one of their prospects as the backup.
I think both of our goalies would get some interest if the Blues were really thinking of moving either with Elliott's success in this years playoffs and the fact that he has a friendly cap hit, as well as Allen with his potential and a nice cap hit as well. |

Crawford is obviously the better net minder. Would he have consented to a move to Toronto is what we don't know

They're not gonna throw a pick away. Whether or not it's burning any holes. That is asinine. |

Andersen is elite, Crawford is not. Crawford should have been paid $3 million, everyone knows that.

Blues have option with the goalie position they have <$5 mill in cap space tied up for both.

That, and perhaps what TOR wanted to send back, money especially, might have had Stan look another direction. |

I know you are kidding but in context at $5.5 mill per....Anderson is the 16th highest paid starting goal tender.....That's right the 16th meaning that's just about the average for starting tenders these days!!!

To me the Blues almost have the luxury of going with both guys another year and find out which one is better. A luxury cap-wise a team like DAL surely does not have at present. |

Which is why you should fear a UFA Scott Darling as your goalie centered cap relief. |

Which is what I keep saying trading Crawford kicks the can down the road but the savings isn't going to be close to his full cap hit...Not close.

In terms of what he is paid sure. In terms of salary cap hit, no. The cap is always the yearly average of the contract. - Blackwater13
Under my example, he'd be paid $30.0M new money for the 5 year term of the new contract if he didn't hit his bonus, but only $27.5M new money if he hit the $2.5M bonus. Would this be a legal contract? If it is, cap hit should be $6.0M in either case. Just wondering if contract could be structured that way (assuming Panerin and his agent would agree.) |

So you're on the side of trading AA, correct? How is that not similar to CC's situation? And it's $1.45M less cap hit. |
