If Jimmy Vesey wanted to sign in Buffalo he can.

If he and his family want to get wined and dined on Polish Sausage for a weekend they can.

Maybe Buffalo just wanst to get in a position to hear a big NO.

I don't actually thnk what Nashville & Buffalo wheel & deal affect what Jimmy Vesey does, unless he is hot to play with Eichel.

The agents...well they have lots of clienst so i bet you could dmake the case with at least a dozen other teams who the agent has players playing with...

The agent can't get more than the rookie salary cap right?

Jimmy makes the decision no one else.

if this is anything, it is about Nashville trying to get something to reoup their loss of a third round player who played himself into first round status

I think this move takes 2 teams out of the goalie mix. Toronto and the team they trade Bernier to (likely Calgary). That doesn't leave too many potential destinations for Crawford.

Twitter report (Grasso) that Anaheim offered Fowler / JVR but Toronto said no.

Bowman might find the market for the top guys dried up if he waits until after the formal cap announcement on Wednesday(?) to pull the trigger.

Anderson to Toronto

2016 1st round pick (#30 - PIT)
2017 2nd round picks to anaheim

- ChicagoDave

Good deal for both... Here's to hoping that Anderson was their top target and that was not offered to Chi, because if it was and we didn't pull the trigger we may have missed an opportunity.

Will be an interesting week leading up to the draft...

That's looking more and more like a reality.
- DarthKane

Not an ideal reality, that's for sure...considering they will have to manage to sign him. Putting him at 1LW takes away from him having an impact on the lower lines.

With Ladd almost certainly UFA and potential to lose/trade Shaw the Hawks are gonna have a shortage of net front presence.

Don't know about you Al, but I enjoy watching what improvement the previous TOR youngsters make under Babcock. IMO Kadri (inked at a nice number) took a huge leap forward, plenty to go though, and I think Babcock will make Morgan Rielly a top 10-15 Dman in a few short years.

As much as the team sucked I liked watching them under Babcock last year.

- Mr Ricochet

They have hockey people involved now that seem to have the power to shape the correct structure for improvement.

Buffalo can sign him now, I think - no one else can talk to him until Auguest 1.

No?

Still have no idea why the NHL is taking so damn long to release the cap number. Things going the way they are better hope Shaw sticks around. Or Motte, Schmaltz and some others are gonna have trial by fire. It may work out. May not.

No one can talk to him until Aug. 15th.

So what?

He signs where he wants on the 16th right?

Sabres had FOUR third rounders and Nashville just wanted a third rounder they invested to draft the kid with to save face.

It is not a bad way to get his phone number...every other team would be tampering if they called him, but now the kid will have to get his phone number changed, his family's phone number changed, and his father's phone number changed because every person in the Buffalo organization is going to called to try and convince him to come play there.

Evander Kane will even call him and ask him if he wants his spot as the top left wing...

Almost completely different set of circumstances though.

In some ways but big Buf had the rap that all he wanted to do was eat nachos and drink beer. Also, a player who was dealt primarily because of the cap.

I'm not sure what his blood oxygen levels were and not comparing Buff to Keith as a fitness fanatic...But when I saw him without pads I was impressed.

Bottom line is TT is 21....Things can change and I don't think he was dealt primarily because he didn't want to train hard and went overseas for the summer. He was dealt because he didn't fit the program and his value was still perceived as very good...Good enough to have a team swallow a $4.5 salary.

This is the new NHL whereby many are realizing better to trade a year early than a year late.

If Fowler goes now that's basically the same reason-He won't be a UFA for 2 more years...

If this is true, they have to strike gold with a value-veteran free agent or a Hog (which I don't see happeneing).

No I don't it happening either. Could be a rough 2016-17 campaign. But a year of experience only makes the young guys that much better. Can Q handle that is the question.

Can Hawks structure Panarin's next contract so that he is paid a variable amount in the first year depending on whether he hits his bonus next year again? Example: if he hits $2.5 bonus again, could his contract pay him $3.5 M in first year and $6.0M for 4 years after that, versus paying him $6.0M in the first year if he doesn't hit his bonus. (I'm worried that even if they eliminate Crawford's cap hit via a trade, they may get clobbered again by Breadman's bonus on top of his new salary in 2017-18. Does anyone know if the variable proposal would be a legal contract under current NHL and NHLPA rules?

In terms of what he is paid sure. In terms of salary cap hit, no. The cap is always the yearly average of the contract.

Game 7 of the NBA finals was watched by 31 million viewers - 44.5 million for the last few minutes of the game.

I don't think 31 millions in the US have EVER watched a hockey game.
