Wow!! Now they need a goalie?.........
- Mr Ricochet

Do you think they would rather have Elliott or Allen?

BREAKING - Sabres acquire Vesey's rights.
- mrpaulish

There's probably a good chance he signs with Buffalo and good for Nashville for getting something in return.

It's still not guaranteed that Vesey signs with Buffalo. I remember Hamhuis' rights were traded a couple times in the same summer (Flyers and Penguins I believe).

Rumor has it he wants to play with Eichel.

@buffnewavogl
Sabres get Jack Eichel's highly talented friend Jimmy Vesey. Must believe/know they can sign him.

- Marlowe

Vesey and Eichel have the same agent...

No one wins the Stanley Cup without one vg all around dman and another who is also vg at least in his own end.
- Al

Don't know about you Al, but I enjoy watching what improvement the previous TOR youngsters make under Babcock. IMO Kadri (inked at a nice number) took a huge leap forward, plenty to go though, and I think Babcock will make Morgan Rielly a top 10-15 Dman in a few short years.

As much as the team sucked I liked watching them under Babcock last year.

I agree that he could sign there. Guess that option is pretty much off the table for Chicago... Guess we will find out in mid August. I wonder if they sign him, do they maybe move another player or some prospects? Should find out soon.

Hearing Anaheim has traded Frederik Andersen to Toronto for 30th overall pick this year and second round pick next year

The bad news is if you are in the "I hope they dump Crawford's contract" club then you can cross Toronto off the list. The good news is if you are part of that club, then Andersen may have set the market because if he nets a late first then Crawford should be more. I know he has an existing 6 mil per year hit but Andersen may get 4.5 - 5 mil AAV.

I am actually a (small!) player in the Chicago music scene and find Matt Spiegel to be incredibly friendly in person, as is the rest of the tribute band he works with, Tributosaurus. Really fantastic if you ever want to step into an old record. They really nail it. Great players.

Anyhow, Spiegel is not much of a hockey guy and generally butts heads with Bernstein which is a "+" in my book.

- phantasmo

Spiegal is a sharp dude, period. IMO he becomes whatever goof partner he has. His working with narcassist McNeil made you feel sorry for him and now that he's with super fly, super smooth Goff he tries to "trend" young. .......I'm a fan of his intelligence and on that note if he finds Bernhiem insufferable he goes up a 1,238 notches in my book and supports my view of his smarts.

True that, on second thought, I also found Spiegel to be humble and say "I don't know," if he doesn't know.

Curious your thoughts on Allen? Big time AHL guy, the experts like him but for me there is just something missing in his game....... One will have to go before the expansion draft, no?

I'm an Elliot guy and to be honest watching him in these playoffs was asmuch fun I've had watching any hockey for a lot of years... He was reeeeeeally good and having watched every minute of the series v The Mighty Hawks I think his performance was UNDERrated.

Could be but in my view not the lynch pin.
If they didn't view TT as a 2nd/3rd line center then he was a a valuable trade chip and a round peg for a square hole.

I can also tell u other young guys who stuck around all summer to train were dealt .... Big Buff comes to mind first.

- Al

Almost completely different set of circumstances though.

Yo Darth, do the Preds also get a 2nd rounder for losing him? If so they get a 2nd and 3rd for him, correct?

Not bad considering.

All signs pointing to Vesey in Buffalo. I know that was an option the Hawks hoped to capitalize on. Brings them back I think to exploring a veteran solution at LW. Which will cost more and might be one more factor pushing Shaw out of Chicago.

Have not heard an update on Crawford's status, but evidently, Toronto, was, in fact, dangling a 1st round pick in pursuit of a goalie.

Vesey wasn't a first round pick so the Preds would have go nothing if he walked.

Vesey in Buffalo makes a lot of sense. He'll get top 6 ice time and the Sabres are an up-and-coming young team. Although I am not a fan of the city at all.

Great move for TOR. Lets see what the silky smooth Swede does with the benefit of 55-60 starts instead of that time share bs.

As far as Crow, or any goalie, CAL stands as the last club without a #1. If they look for a true and tested #1 it's between Crow or Fluery unless the sign Riemer as a UFA.

Set a decent market in the event the Hawks really look to move #50...

Andersen is not proven, and is expected to sign for around $5m/yr

Crawford is a 2-time Stanley Cup winning goaltender.

The silence out of Chicago is deafening. Absolutely nothing on Chicago from any of the usual trade speculators. Not sure if that's a bad thing or a good thing.

Since CGY was already rumored to have been talking to Fleury, I would expect him going there. Pretty sure he is beyond done in PIT.

With TOR out of the market, just can't see CC waiving for any of the other teams needing a #1.

Truthfully, I think CC's contract is too pricey for all but those teams in the toilet, and PHI now has six goalies in their system. The truly rebuilding teams are seeking price as much as talent.

I think this move takes 2 teams out of the goalie mix. Toronto and the team they trade Bernier to (likely Calgary). That doesn't leave too many potential destinations for Crawford.

And shoulve been a vezina finalist IMO. On a side note people who use wins as the main category to argue for that award are stupid. Wins is a team category not a goalie one.
