#BREAKING - Ducks and Leafs in heavy discussions. Names being thrown around: Andersen, Fowler, JVR. Don't be shocked if Andersen is a Leaf.

This makes total sense from a TOR perspective.
The more and more I think about it, I think, although Crawford makes the most sense to deal (value & $$ wise) that it will be Shaw moved for a nice player/prospect/pick.
There just doesn't seem to be enough homes for these goalies and TOR did seem like they would be near the top but if I'm Lou, I make a Fowler/Andersson deal any day over Crawford + spare parts.
Disagree.....he himself, Kruger, mentioned his wrist still wasn't right and unsure if it EVER would be 100%. Based on his draws in the playoffs, and requirement to drop way low for added leverage, I wonder....
Bolland offered you everything Kruger is, but also offered consistent depth scoring and ability to score in the playoffs. Something Kruger has not been able to do.
Not going to rehash the past, but on a team very top heavy in regards to salary hard to fathom you pay a defensive specialist 3+ million AAV. And late in game 7, it wasn't Kruger who centered 16/81, it was Shaw when the hawks needed a goal. Big statement from your coach right there..... - SteveRain
Well Shaw was also leading the team in goals soooo getting him on the ice when they needed to score made sense from that perspective.
Otherwise, meh, they could do a lot worse for that dollar amount. Couturier is a similar player (especially being an underachiever offensively in the offensive end), with some obvious size advantages and a little more ceiling who has a 4.3 mildo hit.
For what he brings, maybe 2.8 is more on par, but for playing for free last year he got 'taken care of' which is fine.
I can see why someone may not be super keen on that deal but it isn't one that is going to cause all manner of long term terrible awful problems. Kooga will play well unless he needs to be LTIR'd in which case they can use that space.
Zawaski: "Please tell me something, anything. I don't care. Even if its something you want me to say. Please. Please."
Stanbow Secretary: "Stan would like you to say TT didn't work hard and we had to trade him for the good of the morale of the team" - furso27
Ehhhh, I kinda question the timing but that's sorta how the John McDonough PR machine works. But it's NOT like this is some huge story break. I can't speak for other blogs, but I have been reporting on what appeared to be (and sounded like from some people I talked to) a lack of commitment to training for several months. So, in this regard, taking it out on Zawaski is shooting the messenger—and he's not the first when it comes to this story.

They should just call it WCUB already.
After last summer and the Kane thing, where most on the station had journalistically convicted him, my dial has never touched that irresponsible frequency again. (I did find that Zawaski was not bad.)

Posted a couple days ago about Fowler and was told a couple weeks ago a goalie was going. New old coach coming back and their window with Perry and Getzlaf is not wide open... Interesting time in Anaheim.

I am actually a (small!) player in the Chicago music scene and find Matt Spiegel to be incredibly friendly in person, as is the rest of the tribute band he works with, Tributosaurus. Really fantastic if you ever want to step into an old record. They really nail it. Great players.
Anyhow, Spiegel is not much of a hockey guy and generally butts heads with Bernstein which is a "+" in my book.

Could be but in my view not the lynch pin.
If they didn't view TT as a 2nd/3rd line center then he was a a valuable trade chip and a round peg for a square hole.
I can also tell u other young guys who stuck around all summer to train were dealt .... Big Buff comes to mind first.

At the time, was the Hawks brass concerned about his weight and dietary habits?

Been saying this is the best move for TOR since the end of the regular season. Fowler is a 25 minute eating 1st pairing TWENTY FOUR yr old with SIX full years of NHL experience. max him in term and he's 32 when the contact ends, no poor performance years on the back end of the deal......... IMO Andersen is THE guy to get in goal for a team looking 4-5-6 yrs out for a starter.
My only question is what is the TOR time line for icing their best team? Do they look to make a big step this coming season or look to draft top 5 again? .....

Well no one told me that specifically but I can say if u saw Buff in his armor all body shirt before a playoff game in 2010, fat and sloppy would be the opposite of how u would describe him.
There are guys, especially young guys who train at the UC for much of the summer.
