Hes everything you want in a true two way dman. Moves the puck up and out to his forwards, starts the transtion and has good offensive skill to go with it. If the Leafs could somehow grab him it would be unbeleivable. Hes a great player.

As for the other comment above. Despite JVR's contract/age etc. I believe almost all gm's would value Lindholm over JVR.

Interesting comparison between Lindholm and Rielly. That looks like a good argument, however I haven't seen as much of Lindholm as I have of Rielly, but I'll say Rielly is completely untouchable! #1 written all over him.

I would take a flyer on Fowler. He would be alot cheaper to acquire, which still gives us JVR to dangle for another need.

Majority? No but i watched a bit and he always stood out he has good size and people are always raving about him. His advanced stats are very good aswell.

If we tank out again this year, I see us moving him at the TDL. Holds alot of value with a season and a half left on that ridiculously low contract. A contender WILL pay!!!

Doubt we tank again. Babs wont want to. We had a pile of 1 goal games and close ones last year. A little more fire power and we should do alot better

think he was dealing with a ton of injuries unfortunately..

Exactly. Who knows what Lou is thinking, but JVR holds the most value as to who COULD be expendable. If he was willing to sign an extension around 5-5.5, then maybe this is a moot point.

At the same time, he would bring in a haul to a contender looking for a Top 6 forward with one year still left on that awesome contract.

Yeah I get that Anaheim may not want to move their two most valuable trade bait pieces for a lone forward but to get an experienced, young, and talented 1st line player may be too good to pass up.

I do agree about Lindholm. JVR should have more trade value but with the ability to offer Lindholm a bridge deal and his potential not fully tapped into yet I can see why Anaheim would hold out for more.

The biggest thing about JVR for Vatanen/Andersen is what can you get for them? Andersen (based on history and other available goalies out there) is likely to get a low first (Lehner went for more, Talbot went for less, Jones went for that so this would be a fair expectation and could even be lower if other goalies like Fleury, Bishop, etc became available at the same time).

Vatanen is more interesting but likely won't get you a kings ransom. A solid 2nd/3rd line forward and a draft pick is likely the cost.

The question becomes, do you want those pieces and wait to develop them or do you go out and get a first line 25-30 goal scorer at a great contract?
