I would be open to moving JVR to Anaheim but the return would have to be significantly better and fill more holes than just a young defenseman.
JVR, Percy, 71st pick, Bernier (50% retained - IF THEY WANT HIM)
For
Vatanen, Andersen, 24th pick
Leafs get a young top 4 defender, a starting goalie, and a 1st for a first line winger, decent prospect defenseman, and lower pick. Bernier at half price if Anaheim wants him as a backup to Gibson, if not we can throw in a different piece. - Steven_Dean
A good F, a 3rd, a D that isn't even a for sure NHLer that will be out of you system soon enough anyways and an overpaid avg to below avg goalie.
for....wait for it!
A starting goalie thats not old, a young offensive dman and a 1st!!!!

JVR for Luke Schenn hahaha one of the very few trades that was a steal for the Leafs - Popcorn Kid
Huge steal for Leafs. But the new management group has made several great moves.
Not steals I guess. But cons, is the best word I guess. Getting so much salary off the books (bad contracts phaneuf/clarkson). Seems like a smart scout in Hunter too. |

While I do like JVR , he looks like he has so much more to give. He shows flashes,
then he just seems to kind of float . Typical " bigger " guy who doesn't really use his size. Pack his bags for me . - jcfogerty
I wouldn't mind trading him as well as he would get us the best return. I like the idea of sending to Anaheim for Anderson and one of their young D men. It would be JVR plus and would do the trade depending on what the extra plus would be. |

The great Mark Pysyk is available according to Garth. Perhaps a JVR plus a premium pick could be enough murrency to land this talented minute munching, puck distributor? - EugenesAxe

Takes more for a dman. ANA wouldn't part with him. So I think Vatanen will be the guy they move.
All depends if ANA can fit JVR under expansion. So difficult. But TOR def has the picks and prospects to make it happen.
I imagine ANA would want Dermott, 30,31. Maybe you can keep JVR for some other move. So hard to balance the roster for next seasons expansion draft.
Which means this draft is going to be fun!
The fact TO is in the east helps the cause as well. Andersen would be a perfect fit. I know CGY would love him.
Back to draft, I wouldn't be surprised if those assets above are not moved for a dman, that Lou would look at moving up into the middle of the draft to grab a player like Fabbro. We'll see.

3 spots up front and 2 on the blueline. They're gonna lose someone important. - burn
I would think CBS would not lose anybody. I am sure management is already looking at this and deciding who trade out now and my assumption is the lower tiered younger guys that may be lost could be moved for picks/younger players not exposed to the draft. It could be a slight step backwards, but CBS would be silly to let this play out and lose some of their younger players for nothing. In saying that, the time to move these possible lost assets would be now and not right before the expansion draft. If they do the latter, all trades will be a very lousy return for CBS. |

It's awesome. They have all teams listed and have their automatic protected guys locked in (nmc guys) and then you can go through team by team and fill out all the rest of their protected guys and then draft the expansion team. - burn
just came across this on the Star
General Fanager is a little misleading now. The site is set up to show what players fit what categories. For example, in the two years or less, Kapanen today is exempt. But that's because he hasn't played in a third season yet. Once the games pile up next year, Kapanen will move from the exempt list to the needs-protecting list. Other players will join the 70-40 club (70 GP over two years or 40 played

Hawks blogger says cap is going up
And this morning, some good news (verging on rumor, but more likely news) it appears the NHLPa will exercise their escalator, which would put next year's cap at around $74 million.
anyone hear anything about Vesey? or he just fall of the earth |

Unless they make a trade, Leafs are a team that could help them out of their problem. It would be nice to squeeze them out of the third overall, also Seth Jones is RFA. Could be a perfect storm for a three way deal with the Oilers. - winsix
CBS is not trading Seth Jones. They traded Johansen for Jones. He is there to stay. |

JVR, Percy and 4th for Lindholm - Matthews_Auston
I think JVR is worth more than Lindholm to be honest, however I want Lindholm over Vatanen. Vatanen is no slouch, but I like Lindholm that much more. |

The fact you only call JVR, a first line player, just a "good F" proves you know exactly what your talking about.
First line players, with amazing contracts who are under 30 always go for a top6F/top4D, top prospect, & 1st. 1st and Vatenen meet that requirement, Andersen a young starter (but not elite like Schneider, etc) replaces the top prospect. It is close. Maybe not what Anaheim would want but the value is there. |

If Barrie stays with the Avs, I think it will drive the price up on the other young Dmen in a trade acquisition. If that's the case, I would rather stay the course and collect more picks/prospects. Hunter knows exactly what he's doing!!!!! In Hunter We Trust!!! |

Do u think JVR is worth more then Rielly? Because Lindholm is arguably better then Rielly. If not for certain. |

I was never slighting JVR. Sorry if it looked like I was.
As for the other comment above. Despite JVR's contract/age etc. I believe almost all gm's would value Lindholm over JVR.

To us? No. To a possible contending team? Quite possibly.
Interesting comparison between Lindholm and Rielly. That looks like a good argument, however I haven't seen as much of Lindholm as I have of Rielly, but I'll say Rielly is completely untouchable! #1 written all over him. |
