really you don't think JV will make it this year? I think he'd be better to bring up then gaunce
- numbear

JV is on the team, 100%. It's hilarious that some think he starts in Utica. He drove play last year and was our most physical forward. The ONLY way he started in Utica is if he goes full Kassian this summer

I'd say 90%. It depends on what kind of summer he's had. I don't know if talk about his sense of entitlement is true, but if so, a few months riding the bus wouldn't hurt.

Even if he does start the season in Utica, I doubt he'll be there for long.

That said, I think he was handed a roster spot last season because of his ineligibility for the AHL, so I doubt he won't get one with a season under his belt.

He was a strong possession player last year and was our only physical forward other than Dorsett. Sense of entitlement or not, the Canucks can't afford to send him down to Utica if they want to challenge for a playoff spot. Kid likes to drink, most rich 19 year olds probably do

Yeah, I don't think the Canuck's roster is going to be one of the hardest to crack in the league.

It's a 12 step program Vantel and you're still on step 1.

I am curious to see how Bo JV Etem and Sven progress this year.
- VANTEL

I think we will see significant progression from Bo and Etem. Sven will improve a tad and JV needs to spend a year in Utica IMO.

I like that Bo is staying in Van and will hopefully be even beastlier next season. Hoping he has a different start than last year.

If we end up signing Eriksson or Brouwer (or both) I think we will see JV in Utica for a longer stretch than a few months. Sheltered minutes for JV on the bottom 6 won't be great...better to play 20min/game in Utica IMO.

He should get easier minutes with Sutter healthy so I expect more points than he had the first half of last season.

Bo reminds me of a Bergeron-lite kinda player. Should get better every year.

Without more moves, i can see JV getting caught up in the numbers game, not having to clear waivers to be sent to Utica.

So as mentioned by many previously, Higgins and Burrows need to be moved to free up roster spots. Vey could be on his way out of town or start the season in Utica, he cleared waivers last season, wouldn't be a surprise to see him clear again this season.

I guess the thing with JV is he brings the physicality that the club lacks without him in the lineup, but I think a little time in Utica could help his offensive game.

The draft can't get here soon enough and hopefully some trades before and after.

I don't think its hilarious as Daniel called out the work ethic of the younger players during the season. When have either the Sedins done that before? JV was physical after he came back from the world Juniors but talked off for the rest of the season with some signs of that physicality but was also invisible for parts of the games to which is why he got less is time as the season came to a close.

To get rid of that entitlement feeling maybe he starts in Utica,we'll see. I'd like to see everyone on the team play 100% all the time and I think there was a little Of the country club atmosphere there. They need to curb that now.

Does anybody have any evidence that JV has a sense of entitlement ? Where is this speculation coming from? I've heard numerous negative things about McCann and he is gone. Has anyone heard anything specific or are we just referring to Sedins comments? Why is there an assumption he was talking about JV?

How would JV be any different that the current millennial because he's from BC? Just look at how he played or didn't play that's my gauge and more importantly Willie's as if you remember he started one game with the Sedins and he was off that line within 2 shifts and didn't play much for the rest of the game?

I don't think Daniel was talking about Hutton so that leaves the rest.

So Hutton is out...Sedin was referring to Mccann, JV, Etem, Sven, Granlund, Pedan and Guance? Or is Gaunce a good guy as well?

obviously it's all conjecture on our parts but when a sedin calls out young players who seem to have entitled attitudes, i'm thinking he's talking about the 19 year olds who a lot of us already had penciled in as the new offensive core.

i wouldn't think he was talking about young players who bounced around teams b/c of stalled development, players who had to take years to make the club or long shot players who surprisingly made it due to their play.

but that's just me. like i said, it's all conjecture.

Well for one thing he hung out with Justin Bieber isn't that enough to say he needs an attitude adjustment?

Really I think it's more of an assumed sense of entitlement, he has a big apartment, fancy car, going to concerts and partying lots on social media. Nothing wrong with any of it if he has a work ethic like Bo, but we don't know for sure how hard he's willing to work.

Perhaps...I suspect Mccan was his primary target but no one knows as the Sedins won't single somebody out publicly. I've met JV at a bar in yaletown and he seems like a nice kid. Didn't have an attitude at all. i think/ hope he will be an important part of the team next year and won't require seasoning in Utica

I think McDavid, just because the league can't have the second coming of Gretzky not win the Calder. It will be a tainted Calder, but likely his.
