I would take Girgensons as 3rd line winger over Foligno any day. CHeaper, better scorer, more gritty, goes to the dirty places more, lays more hits, better 200 ft game, etc.

Foligno is already at 1.85M and GIrgensons is at 894K and Girgensons has better numbers even. I'd be a HELLUVA lot better off paying Girgensons 1.5-2M then paying Foligno 2.4-3.2M.

The only reason why someone wouldn't agree is because of Marcus's last name.

Bickell 1 year left on the contract. I would have swallowed that in a heart beat. His money goes to resign TT next offseason.

Would anyone do Pysyk for LAK's Mersch and probably a pick?


They have a glutton of LW but need Defensive depth... we have Pysyk who doesn't seem to fit. Mersch would still be expansion protected. He potted 24 goals in the AHL last year and 22 the year before. 23 years old. 1 more year at 787K before RFA

Agreed on the oilers not getting a kings ransom to trade down a few spots.
Pysyk is probably the caliber of player they could expect at best. That said, they've already got Brandon Davidson, so I'm not sure pysyk really fills a huge need

As far as the forward picks over the last while, easy pachla....
since 2010 there was really only one defender that was a rational pick at the spot they picked, but went with the forward instead.
Murray over yaks. And even then, the guys been a bandaid for most of his first few years and would've made no appreciable difference in their fortunes thus far.
Mayybbee larsson over nuge, but the same can be said about he difference hedve made thus far. Plus, they needed a 1c every bit as bad as a defender at that point.

Guys like trouba and Lindholm really weren't on the radar for those top picks. Hindsight doesn't really work in those cases imo.


Also, they've actually picked 2 defenders in this time frame in the first round. Nurse and klefbom.

Yes I think that Foligno has been a ghost for the majority of the past few seasons but kicks it on the last 15 games or so to make a good appearance going into the off-season. Some have said that a shoulder injury really sidetracked his career.
