They didn't land on Uranus. They landed on the sun. The sun is really what we call the moon, and Mercury is what we call the sun. Sperm whales can fly, they just choose not to.

Lots of overreactions in this comment section. This is how its gonna slide:

Official expansion parameters are going to be announced at next week's award show in Vegas. If expansion comes in 2017 and all NMC (partial and full) are autoprotected then one of two things will happen. MAF will be moved for peanuts, or Murray will be moved for a nice haul. This has nothing to do with MAF sucking or having no faith in Murray.

Keeping Murray for the long haul is priority #1. Moving MAF is favor of Murr is low risk high reward. At the point Murray is at worst league average, and you can win with a league average net minder (Niemi, Anttti; Eliot, Brian; Jones, Martin; Quick, Jonathan

- Victoro311[trolllllllll]). Fleury is a good starting 'tender, but he's also a lot older and a lot more expensive. He's gonna likely tap out before the Sid/Geno window does, and he's gonna strain our cap harder than Murray will over the next several years. If Murray doesn't reach his perceived ceiling, even him at his floor gives us a better chance to win the Flower because of longevity and cap.

However, if Flower can't be moved, then trading Murray becomes a must. We have a lot more assets than once believed, but we still don't have many high end assets. The list begins and ends with Murray and Sprong. Pouliot and next year's first are a tier bellow. We can't just lose one of those assets for nothing. If it looks like we're gonna lose Murr to expansion, we need to try to replace him through a trade. Again, nothing to do with not having faith in him, its just a question of asset management.

If the fans know this, GM's also know this. They are not going to shell out massive payment for MAF. teams also know that Pitt has to shed cap somewhere and the #1 candidate is MAF. Helping a team get out of a cap crunch is expensive for the team selling the contract, Chicago proved that.

Tough to say...but it was one of FLOLrys best seasons in his career...tough to judge on essentially one playoff game
- YuenglingJagr
I'm basing it on his body of work in the playoffs not just the one game after the long layoff. Ive never felt comfortable with him in net during the playoffs. He will get you a lot of points via the shootout though.

Geno might need elbow surgery
- nh4442

And Bones was playing with a nasty elbow infection and had a fever. Hell of an effort by those two to soldier on.

Now if we had lost, there'd be a lot of people yelling "NO EXCUSESSSS!!!! BLOW IT UP!!!! "

They don't need to shed much cap (if any), they need to avoid losing Murray for nothing in the expansion draft.

MAF isn't Bickell. MAF is still a contributing member of society. We aren't going to have to package an assett with MAF just to move him. But like I said, MAF will go for peanuts. The goalie market this year is a buyer's market. The seller's market was last year.

Agreed on that, I think that is the same situation for every position IMO. Teams are scared by the expansion draft and losing a player for nothing instead of getting what they can for him.

I think you are going to see a lot of activity in the next two weeks.

Rust played with broken fingers, Sheary had a severe abdominal bruise and Letang had to have is foot cut open to drain an infection. Pretty much every player probably feels like they were in a car accident if they played long enough to win the cup.

Well almost everything on here is pointless opinion. But the worst offenders are "so and so couldnt have done so and so like so and so so so and so should stay and so and so should be traded for so and so" And "so and so was drafted before so and so? WHHAAAATTT!!! So and so is stupid for not drafting so and so even though so and so didnt know so and so was so so unlike so and so"

I've written "so" so many times the word looks wrong now.

They are actually not in a cap situation that requires moving anyone because of it. It would be nice to have some room, but even if the cap stays the same next season, they can go on pretty much with the same team and same cap as this season.

It's a good option, but a risky one.

yes and no, if murray is solid 30 games in, trade bait near deadline, or to someone who has a goalie go down

As a nice change, Crosby said he has no issues, and said seeing what his teammates were going through, he was lucky to come out of the playoffs so healthy.

It's not crazy talk. I get where you are coming from, but we just has a 22-year old kid win us a Stanley Cup in net. He has the composure of a 35-year old veteran and is a calm, cool cat in net. He doesn't let a bad goal impact him, like MAF does.

Love MAF to death, but its time to move him. We need cap room, plus would you rather lose the goalie who won you the Cup for nothing in the expansion draft next year? 99.9% of the fans wouldn't.

- Oneonta Penguin

Murray did not win you the cup... The defense in front of him that only let up minimal shots won you the game. Murray cost the pens a game or two with bad goals. The kid played well under pressure but he wasn't Martin Broduer or Patrick Roy type rookie goalie. He didn't steal the series. If we were talking about SJ goalie Jones I would agree with a lot of this but I think everyone here is high on something.

Without Murray, they likely don't beat Washington.
