he should be qualified imo as he represents a low cost option who could:
1) fill in if any of the expected rookies bomb out at camp
2) could fill in 3-4 line with some offensive upside
3) SHOULD be motivated because he was SO inconsistent last season

He could be the kind of throw in as a low cost resource into combination deal to a team with CAP issues... the kind of player that a Pittsburgh, Chicago or Washington adds as roster insurance later in the season.

I'm pretty sure Uncle Lou will pull off one of his 3 for 1 team roster clearing deals if he needs to... and I don't expect a guy like Holland should cost much to keep and could be moved if necessary... but I would hesitate to throw him away.

Me too... but with Matthews, Nylander, Kadri, Bozak, (Stamkos?) ahead of him I really don't see a place for him. From what I recall he did a pretty poor job when moved to wing.

Because Spurgeon is a great d-man.
If he would be the 'odd man out' at Minnesota team, he should be top target for Leafs to be Rielly's partner on first d-line.

Personally I don't like Dumba too much - too much 'Phaneuf-like' (quite a bit of defensive flaws in his game; bad decision making).

If they have to cough up $500 million - they should get decent stuff. The expansion draft is only the start. I understand they get a protected #3 overall pick for three straight years - starting next year.
