Still love this trade.......

I don[t know how anyone can't score this as a WIN for the Hawks. You got rid of 4 million in dead cap space, since bickell can't contribute on the team anymore. You also retained $0 in that part of the deal.

You sold HIGH on a prospect who sounded blindsided by the move, which is hilarious to me given his season, but anyways......and somehow got 2 picks back. This is a win. You run away, say the right things, and don't look back. Teuvo is NOT going to haunt you long term.

He was given a decent look earlier this year....was he out of position? Possibly, but its time we stop making excuses for fringe players who can't play out of position in the big boy league. Dano, Teuvo, etc.....Teuvo was too small, too frail to be counted on to be a center in the top 6. He was given a chance alongside 19/88 and bombed. His best run as a Hawk he skated with Vermette and Versteeg, and it just goes to show you he needed BETTER players to produce, and he wasn't going to get that here.

So kudos to Stan for selling high.

Spot on to Wiz, as talking heads like Kuc and their asinine "Teuvo Time" lay up articles proved to show what a patsy they are to the organization.

Can we please as a fan base stop overhyping prospects? Because Panik popped in 6 goals in 20 games people are worried he's going to get 20+ next year? Lets relax.....the guy got dealt, felt he had something to prove, and did OK. Lets not assume we just disocered the 2nd coming of Michael Frolik here.......

I hope TT goes on to have a good NHL career. I thank Bryan Bickell as a fan for his playoff runs in 2013 and 2014. When he finally "got it" he was a beast but sadly his body gave out on him and he was GIVEN a BAD deal and HAD to be moved.

We could have said it a year ago; maybe more...

Can we say it now?

Due to the Blackhawks success, they gain an enormous new fan base. With that fanbase, came newbies (and newbie fan web pages) who were inexperienced in the differences of the NHL draft and the NFL draft.
After the Stanley Cup win in 2010, the new fans were looking for a draft pick who was going to take the role of their young hope.
They were fed the “we didn’t think he would be there…” standard draft verbiage.
And the PR team couldn’t help but discuss his skill and World Junior success.
The fans wanted to believe…we all did…that the 18th overall pick was gonna be more than a supplementary roster piece. A scorer is what we hoped.
If you simply looked at all the players other teams selected before him, you see he isn’t the only guy on a tightrope balancing between impartial success and mediocrity.
Only two guys picked after have stood out Olli Maatta &Andrey Vasilevskiy, and potentially, wonder kid Jimmy Vesey in the third round.
Hell, the FIRST guy picked will probably be with a different club after the draft.

The TT train arrived on wheels greased with hype.
I think they kept the pressure at a minimum.
TT was the one pushing for on the job training and NHL workload, and he got it.

It is unfortunate his body of work didn’t contribute to the team going farther than three Stanley Cup wins. (One assist…so no #5 overall scorer in the REAL season the matter, buddy.)

.
The league will hold an expansion draft next June in which Las Vegas will select one player from each team, according to multiple reports. The expansion club must draft a minimum of three goaltenders, nine defensemen and 14 forwards. The league wants Las Vegas to be more competitive than previous expansion clubs, so the rules regarding player protection will be more stringent.

The Hawks can protect seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie, or an eight combination players and one goaltender. The second option is available for teams that are blue-line heavy and would rather expose extra forwards.

The big 3 defenders, Toews Kane Anisimov Shaw, TT(gone) or Kruger & Hossa is a required save -Panarin (exempt). So all of them go protected ...

If you take the other route, and save TVR you expose ONE of the forwards...plus the defender they acquire to fill the criteria if that is indeed the case...and the other forwards no listed above...

Remember, they only GET ONE Blackhawk...

Did not know that either. Good info guys, thanks.

While I don't agree with the "fleecing" comment (only time will tell), I like what this guy says about the impact of the salary cap and drive for parity. (Not that people on this board haven't been saying the same things for some time.)

Not a bad trade.. All due to cap implications. Teuvo was bounced all around the lineup. Now there is cap space to sign a LW and or a 4/5 D man. I still think another move is coming. Glad to see Panik re upped

I think Panik has to be tendered at at least $1,050,000 according to Cap Friendly.

Kempny signed check.
Lundberg signed check.
Johansson signed check.
Forsling signed check.
Teuvo traded check.

Trade Scuderi and Runblad with a 6th round pick for someone's 2020 7th round pick.
Sign Shaw (same $ as Kruger or less)
Sign 4D (and #1LW if money is available or wait until TDL)
Sign Rasmussen ($1 mil) if he stays in USA)

RFA's - McNeil (only if cheap less than $1 mil), Ross ($700,000), Brisebois (no way) Haggerty (no way), M Fraser (no way)

UFA's - do not sign any of our UFA's unless they are at rock bottom prices. Ladd (less than $4mil max or let him walk), Mashinter (no way), Erhoff (no way), Rosival (no way), Harrison (no way), Jackman (no way), Cumiskey (no way), Liambas (no way) Leighton (same as last year), Weise ($1 mil max), Fleischmann ($1 mil max).

I disagree, I think it is a big win for the Hawks.

Teravainen is still only 21 and could still become a top line forward but I think it is much more likely he will be a complementary guy in the top 6 or even as a 3rd line scorer.

A 2nd, 3rd and 4 million in cap is a pretty significant return for a player who still has some question marks.

Seems a good move but let's wait and see how the chips fall this summer

Don't shoot me but I would have been ok with Kruger / Bicks with Ryan Murphy coming this way
TT has a lot of upside ...but that said...he's small

Click the "per Chris Johnston on Twitter" link in the article and it'll go to a tweet from July 1st 2015.. Extension, unfortunately, doesn't always mean the same terms as the original deal.

Correct. Must be at least 105% of last deal if over 660K and under $1MM.

Still a great price.

Agree
TT = J P Bordeleau (if you are old enough to remember him) - small clever guy with potential but never quite lived up to it.

I could be wrong and TT could turn into a great player. But at our house we call him Chicken Man. We have Bread Man and Meat Man (Fleischmann).

I would have liked Panik signed for longer, but I can understand why Stan wouldn't want the additional salary committed for 17/18.

Does McNeil have the footspeed to survive anywhere on the ice as a 4th line C/RW? I saw roughly a dozen Hogs games last year and never thought he had the speed quotient to survive with the big boys.

Is Ross toxic after the allegations against him last year? Is his legal situation resolved to any extent? I thought some of the charges were dropped in MI because the allegations were based in IL.

You get Ladd, Shaw, Weise, and a 4D and a long summer, you are better than the team that lost to the Blues.
