Great trade for Carolina. They had a load of picks, & paid a pittance for Teravainen |

Thank you! Morin does not as anyone with two year or less experience in the NHL do not need to be protected. My guess is we lose Nuevy (assuming he is resigned). May be consideration for trading him this offseason to a team like DAL? - coffee junkie
Just to clarify, it's 2 years of combined AHL/NHL (maybe ECHL, too) experience. That's why Ghost has to be protected. |

I know, but I would have thought they'd rather buy him out. |

You know id actually consider that deal, do it now before we need the space then latter when we would get trade raped (like chi did). - flyers4487
I mean I know it's not ideal.

The latest rumors also suggest AHL time as a teenager doesn't count as a pro season (similar to the ELC slide rule), so guys like Hagg and Nylander would be exempt. |

Wish the Flyers made this move. Have the assets and will have the cap space with an Umberger buyout. - PhillySportsGuy
I still lean towards not buying him out and just finishing that salary poop sandwich this year. It doesn't make a huge difference, just what I would do. I like where we're at with the cap, generally. |

Staal is still a good player and the Canes don't need to move him. I would argue that he's not even overpaid by much, if at all. - PhillySportsGuy
exactly. maybe by about a mil. but the same can be said of lots of guys. people trying to throw him in there with the worst contracts ever is hard for me to get on board with. |

Not sure why you assume I implied this. I agree he is a good player and could be used on the Flyers. The contract is heavy and would need AMAC or Umby going the other way as part of the deal IMHO. But I was serious that I think CAR is considering trading him as has been rumored and Philly may be interested. |

They did need picks in the worst way too. I agree though.
Trading both saves about $5M in cap space next year. Buying out Bickel saves about $2.7M |

It beats buying him out, we are going to need every bit of cap space we can get in a few years if everyone pans out like we hope. |

What about McDavid??? Any chance?? maybe Read, Hagg, and a 3rd??
Hes GOTTA be sick of Edmonton by now and Ive heard hes always wanted to be a Flyer??
Could add Umberger to the stew if they need some sweetener.

I think if Chicago still felt TT was a great prospect they would have found another way to move Bickell, even if it came to a buyout. |

If Cousins outplays Laughton again this season then Laughton probably wouldn't be protected in an expansion draft. So, a Laughton trade is a possibility, for sure. - Feanor
Yeah.
I just don't see a huge ceiling for Laughton. Like how much better will he be compared to Leirer or Cousins? Is he a top 6 or bottom 6(which I feel the Flyers have plenty of.)
Maybe move him now while people still think he has a potential before he has another up and down type season.
I don't know what the right play is. But if I can use Laughton to move MacDonald that interest me a lot. |
