Wait I have another idea. Do you know if Fredo Corleone's brothel is still open?

I'm intrigued by those two picks the Leafs hold. 30th & 31st overall. I wonder if our two 2nds and something else might get us on the phone with them...

In this draft? It shouldn't cost both 2nd's.............not to me.

I don't know the draft but I know the Flyers and what they're missing. I would be thinking something along the lines of a pure shooter or a player who can drive to the net that could compliment Travis Konecny. We need to get stronger on the left side at forward.

Depends on who is on the board. In a situation like last year, with Konecny dropping, sure. It's worth it to get an impact player.

Well of course..........if it happens & the cost is reasonable give it a shot. But to literally the tail end of round 1 I don't think the cost should be both 2nd's

I meant getting 30 & 31 from them. I can't come up with an offer that would make sense though.

Since 25-40+ is such a dogpile, it is probably not great value unless there is a player you must must have. But still I can't imagine a team taking the 48 and 78 for 30. Both 2nds would probably be the ask. I wouldn't do it, unless someone you had at say 20 is there. Say Abramov or Asplund. Even then, I'd hope for a couple picks higher than 30. That said, if a team wants 48 and 78 for 40 or something? That's an interesting trade up if a player isn't falling to you.

Yeah, I can't see Toronto trading back for two middle second rounders if they can grab Abramov or Asplund are there for the taking. Maybe if the Flyers added Laughton...It's hard to gauge.

So we went from we shouldn't have to give them 2 2nds to we should give them 2 2nds and Laughton?

Toronto has some smart guys over there...last year's deal (idk if they feel like doing it again), netted us the better player, and maybe they regret not taking Konecny, but we did give up more value. 48 and 52 for 30 would be getting some value from Toronto. Boston is full of idiots, maybe we can get 29 from them haha. As for Laughton in a trade, I personally am not opposed. If a 2nd and him got us to mid 20s, and for a specific player only, I'd consider it. Hextall has to determine what he is to the organization, and if he'd be selling high or low.

i've kept my glee to a minimal level on these parts, but man that 30th overall was money well spent. i dont care if they draft a perennial all star with it at this point

Kessel was an absolute steal for you guys. The Leafs eating money on his deal when he very well could've been the Conn Smyth winner is just another thing to make fun of them for.

sheary is a pretty big one too. undrafted tiny little mite who ends up out of no where on a line with crosby. i dont think he is a long term solution, but he had some pretty big goals. an OT winner in the cup final basically exceeded his career expectancy on one shot.

but kessel is hilarious. he is so awkward and ugly and goofy. i love him.

yeah. harrington is basically a bust. might be a bottom pair guy. kapanen, jury is still out on, but i'm not too worried about losing him. and the 30th overall. who cares.

the last few years of kessel's deal will probably stink. and itll be time to pay the piper then. but whatever. cup.

and kessel will be worth his salary for at least the next 3 seasons.

really there are lots of great stories

40 yo Matt Cullen

Dumolin playing great as the #2 D on an entry level deal, was his first full season in the NHL I think

Sheary, Rust, Kunackel and Murray!!

I still can't get over how they won with that D and a rookie goalie

I mean my model for winning a stanley cup had to be 4 or even better 5 really great defenseman a la CHI with Keith/Seabrook/Halmarsson/Oduya... Pitt just blew this out of the water

Just spitballing what it'd take to do it if they were so inclined.

I am not trying to advocate a Laughton trade at all.

dont get me wrong. some guys back there played way over their heads and i dont think its sustainable. lovejoy had a great postseason. same with cole. but it really was everyone playing the role of a cog in the machine. honestly, carl hagelin may have been the key ingredient. he did everything. his speed. crosby was also a phenomenal two way guy. everyone female doges about him winning the smythe, but yet when toews had a similar postseason no one griped. people just dont want to acknowledge him as a two way guy, but he was.

i dont necessarily think they should be considered favorites to repeat, but this cup was sweet on so many levels. like you said, so many feel good stories. and just the fact that the core of crosby/malkin/letang has the second one validates them to a degree that they didnt have before.

de Haan - Ellis
Scandella - Orlov

That's a legit NHL d lineup of underrated gems. Add in another vet and a young prospect. That's a really good expansion backend. I mean, poop, that might be better than half the league. It's a good mix of handedness, a vet or two mixed with a prospect and guys right in their early primes, a mix of defensive d men/offensive w/ PP and SH roles, and those 5 are all very good possession players.

- Mononoke

I think some teams will opt for the 8+1 strategy too which knocks a lot of these guys out. I dont think the team will be as good as what you show...but they wont be bad.

I think the biggest thing against AMac has nothing to do with how good he is vs. other players...its his backloaded salary

I was talking earlier about this. I think Scandella is an expansion target. Rumor is they want to trade Brodin....but he is another if not. They are not thrilled with him. Suter, Spurgeon, and Dumba you think would be their 3 protected.
- Mononoke

They are really screwed against the cap...Vanek will surely get bought out. They are another team that could do the 8+1...not because they dont have forwards worth keeping, but because their defensemen are more worth it
