I hated the pick when it was made everyone told me to chill out he could be just like his dad etc

He's a good player. I can't comprehend how he wanted out of here to go to Winnipeg of all places though. Theres maybe five or so cities in the NHL with less to do and worse weather then Buffalo and Winnipeg is one of them. Mix in where they are located geographically and....

I haven't heard any feedback...

Word is that CLB is trying hard to get rid of Hartnell. 4.75M AAV for 3 more years. Actual salary is 5, 5, 4.5, and 3.

Past few seasons...

13-14 PHI 20g/32a (78 games)
14-15 CLB 28g/32a (77 games)
15-16 CLB 23g/26a (79 games)

I would personally LOVE to have his physical play here even at 34 years old. Would be an AWESOME physical veteran 2LW to put on Eichel's wing if Kane is 1LW.

I offered Ennis with us retaining possibly 1.5M being then a 3M cap hit for 3 more seasons. Adding a possible 2nd or 3rd rounder or even a winger like bailey, baptiste, carrier, possler, etc.

I think we should jump at that option.

Yes yes yes yes .. Hartnell is still solid as hell I would love to add him a nice top six forward I would trade Marcus for him not Ennis

City or team?

WPG is loaded with young talent. Adding Laine only makes them better. I'll be curious to see who makes a run first us or them

- sbroads24

City obviously. That's why he didn't want to stay here I'm assuming considering we are also one of the most upcoming teams and he obviously didn't know Laine was going to be there when he got traded

Nice, they pre-lock all the NMC guys. Chicago only gets to choose 4 people to protect.

His NMC stays with him, as long as you dont have any expansion draft fwd protection issues, then go for it.

If Harntell means you lose a good player bc of that NMC, well stay away

You want to trade Ennis, retain salary, give them a pick/prospect and take on Hartnell's contract?

One thing this doesn't account for though is when the expansion draft will take place (probably next year or two years), so it still has the current rosters to pick from as if the draft was happening today.

Yea, no. That offer is very bad.

CBJ wants to shed his salary bad.

Offer a 3rd rd pick with no retention on their side.

I guess I didn't think they would go for that. I figured they would want a skilled NHL player back.

Maybe I am off base with trade offer but I think Ennis might not ever be the same player after being lit up like he was and missing 4 months.

Agreed - they should be given us a prospect for taking on Hartnell. Ennis stays. I do like Hartnell though; 3rd rounder seems fair

You sure about that? I thought it's voided once traded.

Big reason why there's speculation Bogosian's was voided as well

Are we going to protect or want to be forced to have to protect a 34 year old winger in the Expansion Draft? I wouldn't deal Ennis for him and I have no problem dealing Ennis but not for a 34 year old.

Again... I didn't assume they would just GIVE him away seeing as how he is still a very good player . Ennis I think he goign to be a shell not like he was and we need to dump his salary like Moulson.

NTCs can be voided, NMC stays with you.

Look at Hartnell

Carolina gave up a low end 2nd rounder and a 3rd for a younger player with better upside. It won't cost a player. I get the link to Foligno but if anything we trade for his brother not the other way around

It must be different per case because Murray and also capfriendly believe Bogosian's NMC was voided when he came here.

Hartnell can still play, but he is declining. I don't want to be paying a 37 year old Hartnell 4.75 when we have to sign Reinhart/Eichel.

The argument was that Bogo's NMC didn't kick in to his contract until the 3rd (maybe 2nd?) season which would have been this past season i think it was... so he didn't have the NMC at the time he was traded yet which keeps it in tact.

That was how I understood it.

Its pretty damn rare if a NMC is voided, it protects the players from being traded to a team just to be dumped into the minors.

By the time everyone has to protect players , the teams should be very different .
