Saw this a couple days ago. Some team in the khl acquired his rights from another team in the khl for cash. Hopefully if hes in on this its just for leverage. He probably gets his wish, if he wants to be a four million dollar center, its probably gonna be somewhere else. Factor in that we have a few holes to fill and are short on great pieces to offer- well, its not a stretch. Losing him for nothing would be a kick in the teeth.

I think there is so much misinformation about Girgensons that it's anyone's guess what is actually going on.

According to the coach and GM they liked what he did this year being a more checking center. Both said that at times. They also both said at different times that he needed to be better.

There are "reports" that he's "considering" a move to the KHL other than this one.

A certain group of fans on here (frank)ing hate him for some reason. A guy who was in his third pro year and a whopping 22 years old. And maybe that makes it easier to propagate negative rumors.

I don't see how he could possibly ask for $4M a year and think he's worth anywhere in the ballpark of that. I understand negotiation, but still. That's only going to get you laughed out of the room. He's got 30G and 70P in 202GP. That's not enough to get you $4M a year. He's worth about $2M - $2.5M for 2 or 3 years. Ennis is only making $4.6M per and before he signed his deal he had 46G and 108P in just 175GP.

As an aside, in 14-15 the first year of his new deal he made $7.3M salary with a $2M signing bonus. Wow! Last year he made a total of $6.75M with a $2M signing bonus.

This happens all the time with players. Some of the young guys here in NA you hear were drafted in the first round of the KHL draft. That doesn't mean anything, because 999,999 times out of a 1,000,000 they're not going to the KHL..

Something interesting about Malkin. He makes $14.5M in each of the last 2 years of his contract. $9.5M salary and $5M signing bonus. When he will be 34 and 35 years old. A guy who can not stay healthy as it is. A guy whose last full season was 8 years ago. Only exceeded 69 games once(since) and that was 5 years ago. Yuck.
